💬 A little moment from this week…

Lynne kindly left us this review after we carried out her mam’s second-year boiler service.

During the visit, a gas leak was discovered on the cooker connection — unrelated to the boiler and originally fitted by another company. It was capped off immediately to make everything safe.

That’s it.
No drama.
No fuss.
Just making sure someone’s mam is safe in her own home. 💚

Heat pump systems — especially when pipework or layouts aren’t quite right — can be daunting, and we know many homeowners are told “it can’t be done” or that no one wants to get involved.

Taking the time to understand the system properly, explain the options clearly, and make thoughtful improvements is exactly how we like to work.

As we head into the New Year, it’s worth remembering that a lot of heating problems don’t start suddenly — they build up quietly over time.

Pressure slowly dropping.
Systems running hotter than they need to.
Controls that aren’t quite set up as well as they could be.

Nothing dramatic — until one cold morning it finally gives up.

Good heating isn’t just about the boiler itself.
It’s about how the whole system works together.

We’re a local, family-run business based in the North East, specialising in plumbing, heating and renewables. We spend our days in people’s homes, looking after systems that most people never think about… until they really matter.

We believe in doing things properly, being honest about what’s needed (and what isn’t), and treating people’s homes with respect.

We’re not the cheapest — and we’re okay with that.
What we are is dependable, experienced, and here for the long term.

We’re taking a bit of time to slow down and enjoy Christmas with our families — and we hope you’re doing the same.

Boxing Day thoughts…🥊

Christmas can be a lot.
Busy, emotional, loud, quiet — sometimes all at once.

If today is about leftovers, pyjamas, a walk in the fresh air, or doing absolutely nothing at all — that’s perfectly okay.

We hope everyone managed to find a bit of warmth yesterday, in whatever way that looked like for you.

A Christmas thought… 🎄

At this time of year, we’re in and out of lots of homes.
People from all walks of life.

Some full of family.
Some very quiet.
Some doing well.
Some just getting by.

Recently, we added a radiator for a customer whose old one had failed. She needed the heat — but simply couldn’t afford the repair. We did the job anyway, free of charge.

This isn’t about praise or recognition. It’s just what felt right.

Christmas can be a hard time for a lot of people.
Some have lost loved ones this year.
Some families have broken apart.
Some people are quietly struggling, or just feeling lonely.

There’s also a lot of pressure on parents to buy the latest gadget or must-have toy. But honestly… it’s not the most important thing.

Time is the real currency we have.

Put the phone down. Get a board game out. Even the dreaded game of Twister. Laugh. Make memories.
Kids won’t remember the latest present — but they will remember the time you spent with them.
The daft moments. The laughs. The stories that get told years later.
“The time Dad bashed his head playing Twister” sort of memories.

So if there’s one thing we’d ask this Christmas, it’s this:
Be kind. Be patient. Be present.

You never really know what someone else is going through — and a small act of kindness, or a bit of your time, might mean more than you realise.

Heating and plumbing problems rarely happen at a convenient time, so being able to step in, explain what’s going on, and get things sorted properly is something we take a lot of pride in.

🟢 When everyone else said “no”… we said “let’s look at it properly.”

We were recently asked to help a lovely family who already had an Octopus-installed Cosy 6 air source heat pump.

The system was working — but not as well as it could.

They needed pipework re-routed to allow a new kitchen to be installed before Christmas, and while doing so, wanted to improve the heat pump’s real-world efficiency.

They contacted multiple plumbers and heating engineers.

Every one of them said the same thing:
❌ “We won’t touch someone else’s heat pump install.”

That’s where we stepped in.

Instead of guessing or avoiding it, we assessed the system properly:
✔ Pipe sizing
✔ Flow rates
✔ Pressure loss (kPa)
✔ System resistance
✔ Real-world SCOP — not brochure figures

We re-routed the pipework correctly and reduced unnecessary resistance in the system.

The result?
✅ Kitchen plans back on track
✅ Cleaner, more sensible pipework routes
✅ Improved system performance
✅ A heat pump that now works as it should have from day one

This is the difference between installing heat pumps…
and understanding them.

If you’ve been told “we don’t touch heat pumps” or “that’s just how it is” — we’re always happy to take a proper look.
