Last week I visited the Scott Sutherland School end of year show at RGU which displayed some really strong work across architecture, architectural technology, and interior design.

Swipe 👉 for a few projects, presentations, and details that caught my eye.

It was nice to see so many physical models alongside the digital presentation work, and also some hand drawing and sketching throughout the exhibition.

One thing I particularly liked was the Stage 1 technology students drawing out a building section at 1:1 scale.

Always interesting seeing the different approaches and ideas coming through across the various stages of study.

Project Spotlight 💡

Abbeyfield Bed & Breakfast, Dufftown

This project involved the conversion of an unused store room into a private family living space for the owners of an existing bed & breakfast.

Having previously secured planning permission and building warrant approvals for the original change of use when the bed & breakfast was established three years earlier, this next stage of the project focused on creating a more defined separation between guest accommodation and family life.

The brief was to create a calm, practical space away from the guest areas, including somewhere to sit with a coffee overlooking Mortlach Distillery.

Working with existing buildings is often about finding potential in spaces that have gradually become underused over time.
