This is Carpinus fangiana. The rare and handsome small tree is commonly known as Monkeytail Hornbeam. It is currently looking stunning with its pale green, tissue paper-like catkins which can grown up to 30 cm long. Watch them do their wiggle as the wind blows 😊. Very useful as a cut foliage/cut flower too.

Garden is open on 14 June, 2 - 5pm. And there will be 🍰 cakes.
Dogs on leads. Hope you might be able to see it then!
