Small homes in an urban setting. This site in Edinburgh, believe it or not, was a scrap yard enveloped by a tenement block accessed via a mews entrance through the tenement. Our developer clients had 2 planning applications refused and asked if we could take another look at it. After some careful design and lengthy discussions with the council, we managed to achieve planning approval for 3 small dwellings on this tricky site. A mixture of buff brick, timber cladding, a sedum green roof and the retention of some trees help settle it into the surroundings.

PAST PROJECT! 🏡

Redevelopment of an existing farmhouse and steading buildings of a dilapidated 1890’s farm in Hurlford. Completed in 2013, most of the existing buildings were carefully altered, renovated and refurbished to create new high quality dwelling houses while those beyond economical repair were demolished and two new dwelling houses erected. All of the works were carried out using existing local materials to a traditional design while the original stonework was reused to create a harmonious solution. The works included limited landscaping and the creation of a sustainable urban drainage system. Designed and realised by my late father, Robert Craig (architect) 🤍

Sunroom Sundays!

Sensitive refurbishment of a Georgian villa ground-floor flat in Edinburgh, creating an open-plan dining, kitchen, and living space with a strong connection to the garden. The existing conservatory which was overlooked from above was removed and a sun room formed with an adjacent covered terrace and open air patio accessed from the new sun room with triple glazed sliding doors to provide a succession of spaces to suit all weather conditions while maintaining privacy from above.

Bringing the Scottish sunshine indoors! ☀️ This lantern rooflight floods the dining room extension below with natural light, creating a perfect space to dine with family and friends, especially on a rare sunny day like today. We are excited to share some proper photos of the finished project very soon!
