Been in the medieval city of York today. Fitted cornice I think is called Small Edwardian. One of the more subtle profiles. The client bought it from plastercoving.ltd.uk and we fitted it for the client. Usually fit cornice hand made locally but this was made out of the country and it was ok, well made. Finished a job I started a couple of months ago. Alcove cabinets with oak tops and oak shelves with lights underneath. Redesigned the top of the alcoves in order to create a lowered top to fit a light in and also to carry the coving across. Plugs inside each cabinet and then fitted tv bracket with concealed wiring down into the cabinet below which has all the aerial sockets, internet router, etc… all the stuff you want out of sight.
Job done.. All good fun.

Today’s job was a supply and fit a couple of repair pieces of small “Swan Neck” cornice and then supply and fit medium “Swan Neck” to the landing ceiling. Because of the height of it we had scaffolding there which made it a lot easier. All good fun.

Last couple of days have been in sunny Cottingham fitting more cornice, but this time adding a picture rail underneath to set it off. It’s an old renovated property so the ceilings are high and can take the large cornice along with a picture rail which adds to a clean stylish look. We also built out across the windows creating a cavity for curtains or blinds to be fitted inside out of sight. All good fun.

Last couple of days we’ve supplied and fitted Large Georgian cornice to two rooms, what’s going to be a study/library and the other a dressing room. Plenty of external angles and internal angles all giving it character. All good fun..

Something a bit different last few days. Rather than plasterwork we’ve changed the look of a lounge. Fitted basic wall panelling, installed alcove cabinets, lowered the ceiling in each alcove and fitted coving across but set back either side so as to still highlight the chimney breast. Put a light in each side, plus set up lights that will be going under shelves. Just got to fit the oak cabinet tops next visit and put up the oak alcove shelving. All good fun..
