21 May 26- Spring onion 🧅 Seed Snail 🐌

White Lisbon Spring and Ramrod onions seeded 22 Feb 26. The snail was brought out in the allotment in April and placed on a bed allowing the plants to root into the soil until the final planting space became available. Today’s the day to reveal the root system and plant out.

Also I think I’m converted to Ramrod spring onion from how on. The germination rate and root system on this variety are far superior to White Lisbon.

Field beans are growing nicely enriching the soil of the new plot, winter onions and garlic are on track and the winter veg (what hasn’t been harvested and eaten already) are still doing well under some frost.

12th November 2025 - update tour

Last bed in the new plot is free of last tenant’s potatoes and I was finally able to set it up. All other new beds received Field Beans Green manure seeds and this last one will as well, likely in the weekend.

Edging towards the common grass paths are made from sunken in planters which are partly planted with Monarda Bee Balm, thyme, some tulip bulbs, Campanula glomerata superba and Ameria Maritina pink. More herbs and flowers will be added later.
