Nice bit of MEWP work last week for Garden and Tree 🌳 removing a heavily diseased Alder tree.

This was in a school site and the tree was close to a main pedestrian gate so removal was the only option. Another job well done and a fun couple of days with the MEWP helping out a fair bit 💪🏻

Back to dismantle this beast of a poplar stem after removing the crown a few months back 🌳

The customers were going to keep it to regenerate but it turns out it could have been the cause of some subsidence in a neighbouring property.

🌳 Heavily Declining Alder Tree Removed in York 🌳

This heavily declining Alder tree was removed in York last week. Unfortunately, the tree had reached the end of its life, with a significant amount of decay present at the base, making removal the safest option.

The tree was carefully dismantled and safely removed within the day, with all timber left on site for the customer to use in their log burner. 🔥

Rain did a great job of shaping the top on this one while I worked on the sides, and it came up a really lovely shape 🌳

Crispy dead Scot’s Pine removed for Kippax North Primary school a couple of weeks ago! As my daughters school it was nice to work there and make the grounds safe for everyone.

The tree was completely dead and had become a hazard, so it needed removing before it caused any issues.

Another safe and tidy job completed 👍

Ginormous beech stem we rescued from falling through a house last week.

The tree had been almost entirely removed by some previous contractors many years ago… but the big stem remained.

Over the years the roots decayed and ivy colonised the stem. Then in a heavy wind it started falling. Lucking there was a semi mature holly tree which it caught on and really was the only thing stopping it from crushing the neighbours conservatory.

We responded to this as emergency work, and managed to winch back on itself just enough to price it down in sections, avoiding any further damage 💪🏻

Pretty standard job for us! Line of overgrown Leyland Cypress, planted originally as a hedge but lacked maintenance. Then before you know it they’re 30ft high 🌳🌳🌳

Unfortunately, once they get to this stage, there’s not a lot of options if you want to keep them. The best solution is to reduce the height and bring the sides back in. This gets them back to a manageable, tidy size and keeps them working as a proper hedge again.

A beautiful Thuja hedge and accompanying Rowan tree we planted for a customer in Horsforth a couple of weeks back 🌳

Remember if you’ve done any work over the planting season, now’s the time to start watering.

Regular watering them in the first summer is crucial for them to become established 🌱
