Clean Air Day is the UK’s largest campaign dedicated to tackling air pollution, raising awareness of the impact it has on our health and the importance of taking action.

With air pollution recognised as the biggest environmental threat we face today, it’s vital that industries like ours continue to lead the way in reducing emissions and improving air quality.

At Huyton Asphalt Ltd, we’re making real changes on site to support cleaner, more sustainable operations:

Growing Electric Plant on Site: We’re continuing to expand our use of electric plant: including pavers and rollers helping to significantly reduce emissions and improve air quality across our projects.

Switching to Electric Tools: Increasing our use of electric hand tools is cutting down on both emissions and noise, creating a healthier environment for our teams and surrounding communities.

Alongside our established solutions, including HALO™, up to 50% recycled content, and our plant and fleet monitoring, these steps reinforce our commitment to driving real change.

By investing in cleaner technology and smarter ways of working, we’re helping to build a more sustainable future for our industry.

On Friday we proudly attended the Persimmon Homes North West Gala Ball at the Toughsheet Community Stadium in Bolton.

The evening brought people together in support of the Black & White Charity Gala, raising vital funds for The Joshua Tree and Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria's Children's Hospice, two incredible charities supporting children and families facing some of life’s toughest challenges.

It was inspiring to be part of such a meaningful event, celebrating community, generosity and the positive impact we can achieve together.

Celebrating Social Value and Full Circle Success Stories!

Over a decade ago, we proudly sponsored local grassroots football teams across the Liverpool City Region investing not just in the sport, but in the future of our community. Today, we’re celebrating a full-circle moment that shows the lasting impact of that commitment.

Harry, one of our Apprentice Quantity Surveyors, and Thomas, part of our Highways Academy, both once played for teams we sponsored and are now building their careers with Huyton Asphalt Ltd.

Harry is currently coming to the end of his second year studying Quantity Surveying at Liverpool John Moores University, showing real dedication to developing his skills and future in the industry.

Thomas is progressing through our Highways Academy Apprenticeship. Developed in collaboration with HA Civils and Hugh Baird College, the course is the first programme of its kind in the Liverpool City Region, creating a new pathway into highway maintenance careers.

At Huyton Asphalt, we believe social value is about creating opportunities, supporting ambition, and enabling local talent to succeed.

Seeing Harry and Thomas come through that journey is something we’re incredibly proud of, and a great example of how early investment in our communities can lead to meaningful careers.

Last week, we were pleased to welcome Noah to the business after he got in touch to ask if he could spend some time with us and gain an insight into life at Huyton Asphalt Ltd.

As his school doesn’t offer work experience opportunities until sixth form, Noah was keen to learn more about the industry and explore the different roles that make up our business.

Throughout his visit, he spent time with teams across the company, gaining first-hand experience of how we operate and developing a better understanding of the opportunities available within the construction and highways sector.

It was great to see his enthusiasm and curiosity throughout the day, and we’re proud to support young people looking to learn more about the world of work.

We’re proud to share that we’ve been shortlisted for five awards at the North West Regional Construction Awards!

Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve been busy out and about, with fantastic examples of social value in action across our teams and projects.

We’ve had the pleasure of engaging with young people at The Prescot School, delivering mock interviews with Year 9 students. It was a great opportunity to share insight, build confidence, and help prepare them for future pathways into the world of work.

We also joined the An Hour for Others business network meeting, continuing to build meaningful connections with organisations equally committed to making a positive difference in their communities. Alongside this, we attended the RealWorth Social Value Masterclass, strengthening our understanding and approach to delivering impactful social value across our projects.

Supporting local schools has remained a key focus. We were delighted to donate barriers and cones to Allanson Street Primary School to support their outdoor play and learning programme, helping to create a safe and engaging environment for pupils, while also promoting road safety awareness in line with our commitment to The Bobby Colleran Trust.

We’ve also been out on site in Speke, welcoming young school leavers through Employability Solutions for a ‘day in the life’ experience. Giving them a real insight into construction and the opportunities available is always incredibly rewarding and an important part of inspiring the next generation.

And to top it all off, we were proud to be recognised at the CIHT North West Awards, taking home the Quality, Diversity & Inclusion Award. This achievement reflects the values behind our HA Means More ethos: creating opportunities, supporting communities, and ensuring social value remains at the heart of everything we do.

From engaging with young people and supporting local education to building partnerships and celebrating success, it’s been another great couple of weeks showcasing what social value means to us in practice.

A Fantastic Day at Aintree Racecourse!

On Friday at the May Racing Meeting, we were incredibly proud to sponsor three races at Aintree Racecourse: The Huyton Asphalt Ltd Franny Blennerhassett Memorial Race, The HA Civils Franny Blennerhassett Memorial Race, and the Handicap Chase.

It was a privilege for members of our team to present the awards to the winning jockeys, trainers, and owners alongside our staff, celebrating another fantastic evening of racing.

The occasion was made even more special as Franny was honoured once again in this way, a legacy that means so much to everyone at HA and one that will always continue to be remembered.

Thank you to everyone involved for a brilliant day, and congratulations to all the winners!

We’re winners!

Last night we attended the CIHT North West Awards 2026 in Warrington, where we were proud to receive both the Environment & Sustainability Award and the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Award.

Winning the Environment & Sustainability Award recognises the impact of our HALO suite of low carbon products, which continue to drive positive change across the industry by reducing carbon, increasing recycled content, and delivering sustainable, long-lasting infrastructure solutions.

Receiving the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Award reflects the values behind our HA Means More ethos: creating opportunities, supporting communities, and ensuring social value remains at the heart of what we do. This recognition highlights the collective effort of a team committed not only to innovation, but to making a meaningful difference beyond the projects we deliver.

We were also thrilled to be Highly Commended for the Liverpool ONE Bus Station project delivered alongside Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.

To be recognised amongst so many leading organisations across the region made the evening even more special.

Thank you to our team, clients and partners for their continued support and shared ambition to deliver a more sustainable and inclusive future.
