Every Tuesday morning until June, we’re joined by Adam, Aiden, and Sam—three 5th year students from Balwearie High School—who spend time with us gaining insight into architecture which includes hands-on experience. Their first task was to design a simple floor plan and build a 3D model using cardboard and paper. This week, they were given a technical detail to redraw accurately to scale. Once their sketches were complete, we photocopied them and asked them to add colour. They’ve approached each task with great enthusiasm so far, which has been fantastic to see.

The first week of 2026 is now behind us, and it looks like it will be another successful year. D7 Architecture is celebrating its 6th anniversary this month, and to mark the occasion, we received planning approval for a significant church refurbishment project in Kirkcaldy that we have been working hard on over the last few months. Newcraigs Church in Forres Drive has seen a substantial rise in the number of people using its facilities over the years, from the congregation to local groups. The refurbishment will modernise the facilities to meet future needs, increase capacity, improve energy efficiency, and most importantly, provide a warm and inviting space for visitors. Additionally, a new café area will be introduced.

We are also working on other major local projects that will positively impact Kirkcaldy and its surrounding areas. Stay tuned for more updates.

It's great to see this project finished in St Andrews. Thoughtful care has been given to respect the character of the B listed building. The work involved transformed the two-storey property into two separate flats. The ground floor flat opens onto a beautiful, scenic courtyard, while the upper flat has been redesigned into a striking open-plan living space that preserves all the historic elements. During the careful removal of the internal walls, the original columns were discovered and kept as a distinctive feature within the room. Fortunately, all the covings were preserved.

Just to let you know there has been a significant gas leak near our office. Emergency repairs are being carried out at our main entrance. Unfortunately, this means we can't get access to the building for the next 2 to 3 days. Please be patient with us over the next few days as our response to calls and emails may be slower than usual. We apologise for any inconvenience.

We are excited to share that our planning in principle application for a development in Windygates has now been submitted. This 15-acre site offers great potential to accommodate up to 92 homes, including affordable housing, new road infrastructure, and green spaces. The location is within walking distance of the new Cameron Bridge railway station and could bring positive benefits to the village.
We have been actively engaging behind the scenes to create a proposal that supports the Windygates community, holding several constructive and positive meetings with local residents, councillors, and various consultants.
If you own land and want to explore its possibilities, or are considering purchasing land, please reach out to discuss the proposals further. If you would like help, advice, a free initial consultation or a quote for your project, please email us at [email protected] or call 01592 630600.

We took advantage of the sunny weather to conduct a feasibility study for one of our regular clients. Not only did we enjoy the beautiful scenery, but we were also accompanied by their horses. We performed a comprehensive survey of the site using our new Lidar camera, and the results were impressive. In addition to providing us with photogrammetry, it also generated precise 3D topography that included the field, burn, and bridge. This information is essential for assisting us in advising on future upgrades.

We recently obtained a completion certificate for the completion of works for this spacious extension in Culross.

This was a great project to work on from start to finish with amazing clients who were kind enough to leave us a review on Google.

This extension not only makes it more accessible for our client, but it also provides a spacious rear sitting room that offers panoramic views of the garden, complemented by a large glass roof lantern that lets in ample natural light.
