Just finished an incredible week working on DIY SOS: Freckleton!

I can’t share any photos of the finished house just yet — it hasn’t aired on TV — but I can say this: it’s been one of the craziest, most intense weeks of my life.

From being the first to arrive each morning and the last to leave — sometimes into the early hours — to pulling 17-hour shifts to get this house over the line, every second has been worth it to help bring Dan home to his family.

The chaos was real: at times, over 100 people working shoulder-to-shoulder, directions changing by the hour (including having to repaint a whole wall of shells in a new colour 😅), and the constant buzz of everyone giving it their all.

One of the highlights? Staying up late with Rhada to finish Dan’s custom kitchen table. He built it by hand using his carpentry skills, and I painted it (four coats!) to get it just right. We then carefully manoeuvred it into place with some logistical magic — now it proudly sits in their brand new kitchen.

Hard to believe this place was a full-blown construction site just hours ago, and now it’s a warm, welcoming home ready for Dan and his family to move into.

Meeting and working with the DIY SOS team has been an absolute pleasure, and being part of something this meaningful is something I’ll never forget.

Want super smooth walls without splashing out on plastering? Here’s what you should know 🧱🎨👇

Plastering can give great results — but let’s be real:
❌ It’s expensive
❌ Takes time to dry
❌ And if it’s not done well, you might still be left unhappy with the finish

Here’s a more cost-effective approach I often recommend:

🔧 1. Fill any dents, cracks or rough spots using a standard wall filler, then go over it with a fine surface filler for that extra-smooth layer.

🪵 2. Sand smart – use a fine-grit sanding pad:
• For walls, don’t go below 400 grit — anything rougher risks damaging the surface and can cause delamination
• For wood, stick to 600 grit or above to avoid any delamination.

🧻 3. Consider lining the walls – it’s a cost-efficient option that gives a clean, even surface for paint. But be aware: it can be time-consuming and fiddly in tricky rooms, especially if you’ve never done it before.

💡 Depending on the condition of your walls, a good round of filling and sanding might be all you really need.

Here is a recent complete redecoration I just completed on a customer’s son’s room. He is an avid Marvel fan, and his toys inspired me to create a feature l wall featuring Spider-Man. I plan to incorporate additional Marvel characters into the room, and soon the carpet will be installed, followed by the construction of his bed.

Here is my 2019 caddy I’ll soon be converting into a camper/work van. This is by far the best way to remove wallpaper. 😱•Start by grabbing a corner and slowly taking it off the wall. Don’t move to fast or you might just tear it. And you don’t want that to happen if you want the satisfaction of it coming off in one piece 😮‍💨•Next, get a spray bottle with warm water in and spray all the walls and leave it 15 mins to soak into the backing paper/lining paper. This activates the paste again and starts to release itself off the wall. •Once’s it’s soaked in get a scraper and start to remove the paper ensuring to keep a 45 degree angle so you don’t dig to into the wall•Then what you want to do is use a sponge and water or even sugar soap to start taking the left over paste off the wall. Personally I like to use a speed mop as this is a lot faster and efficient. •Then BOOOSSHHHHHH you’re all sorted. Slap the TV on. Get ye feet up with a coffee and your ready to start it all again on another wall 🥲

Not posted any of my recent jobs lately – it’s been a busy few weeks! Here’s a sneak peek at the latest project I’ve just completed. Just waiting on a wardrobe and carpet to be fitted and the TV mount to go up, and this space will finally feel like a proper bedroom for the customer.

This one was definitely a challenge! The walls had multiple cutouts and chases left by the electrician, which needed repairing before any decorating could begin. It took a lot of prep work to get everything smooth and seamless, but the final result was worth it.

Now, the room looks fresh, modern, and ready to be enjoyed! Seeing a space transform like this makes all the hard work worthwhile. What do you think of the transformation?
