Last bricks of the year and job finished just in time for Christmas! 🎄

It’s been a busy end to the year and looking forward to carrying it on into 2025!

Nice indoor job finished this week with the wet weather.

Returning for a previous customer to help with the knock through on their extension, instead of covering all the original stonework they decided they wanted to keep the character of the original cottage.

Oak lintel beams placed and stone returns built up either side to create large open wall trough from old building to new, even managed to sneak a couple of small inglenooks either side.

The majority still needs to be raked out and brushed back and above will be pointed to tie it all in nicely.

Nice little job finished today, base completed ready for the joiner to come in and erect his oak porch.

Was able to reuse the slabs that were taken up and the stone was left over from a previous project at the house, keeping the authentic feel.

Recent rebuild of a retaining wall corner that had failed.

After a initial inspection of the area it was agreed that the first job was to uncover and reinforce the concrete footings.

Next the brick skin was removed and 9” thick block work corner was tied with multiple steel bars spanning the whole return set with a chemical resin.
Also managed to add a small extra weep hole closer to the corner as a extra measure to help let out any water build up behind the retaining wall.

Brickwork built back up to match existing wall, hopefully there will be no more problems going forward.

Large raised bed planters built this week.

Previous beds were low to the ground and unmanageable, these new planters will be far easier to work with.

Before and after photos from the last job of the year.

Client wanted this old flowerbed turned into a lovely size pond.

Pond was skilfully dug out to a depth of chest height in the centre and dirt taken away with dumper to be used in another upcoming project.
Stonework was then tidied up and thick underlay placed ready for the pond liner.
Filling the pond took a full day with two hoses on the go,
finished off with grey sandstone coping stones.

I’m sure the fish will love their new home 🐟!

Some recent work, customer had a sunken fish pond in their patio that had become unmanageable.
After safely relocating the fish, the pond liner and lining was removed hole filled with hardcore and compacted to prevent any dropping then slabbed over using matching Indian sandstone.

Only a small job but means the customer can place table and chairs and sit and enjoy the rest of their garden now.

Recent job completed, constructed a plinth wall with reclaimed stone, tried to keep new work as close as possible to the original stonework on the cottage also used same mix that rest of the building was recently pointed in.

Was contacted to see if I could oversee the demolition of this old worn out double garage.
First obstacle was the old asbestos roof which was removed by specialist contractors.
Then rest of the garage was then taken down site cleared of all overgrown vegetation and new boundary fence erected.
Enjoyed doing something a bit different.
