With a heavy heart I'm going through these old memories and writing now that I am closing Oakleaf Gardening Services. I have accepted a new job offer which starts in the new year.
It's been an amazing journey over the past 8 years since I joined Dom with his fledgling business and together we grew our team, client base and service offering. His passing hit me hard and came at a time I was growing my own family, and since then have struggled to maintain the same passion and drive, so it's finally time for a change.
A million thanks to all our amazing clients, skilled contractors and helpful suppliers over the years, and in particular the awesome hard-working Oakleaf staff members who have made the business what it is and contributed to some fantastic projects and memories, we couldn't have done any of it without you.
We will still be available for wee one-off jobs and ongoing maintenance contracts just into the new year. All the best and hope to see you around ❤️ John

So sad to hear of the passing of Alan 'Ginsberg' Hastie who worked with Oakleaf at Fasque with Dom and latterly at Macphie. He was a lovely gentle soul who loved nature and was always enthusiastic and keen to learn.
He was also an extremely gifted drummer and percussionist with a soft touch, here's a clip of him performing with his band Brothers Reid at a music festival.
Our deepest condolences and thoughts are with his family ❤️ RIP Alan 😥

Nice to finish the week wrapping up another job, this time sandstone patio extending some paving we did in Laurencekirk a few years ago.

It's got quite a Mediterranean feel now it's all come together... The patio that is, not this week's weather! 🏊💦

Thanks to our awesome clients for the coffees, Jake for working with me through some pretty awful weather and to GPH Builders Merchants Ltd Stonehaven for all the materials and great advice re drainage issues.

Here it is, our first landscaping job of the year: a 'sensory path' put in for the kids at the brilliant Laurencekirk Nursery to save the grass being so muddy all the time.

Most the materials were sourced from spare stock but also generous donations from local suppliers Jewson Montrose, Beechwood Garden Centre and Coffee Shop and Mearns Hardware
