Yes, it's April fools day. Though this is no elaborate joke!

The Magnolia tree flowers twice a year, firstly in the spring and secondly in late summer.

With it's sweet fragrant aroma and it's delicate slight peppery taste, its flowers make a perfect accompaniment to any salad, particularly oriental.

If you're a fan of the taste of ginger then you'll love this!

I can't take full credit for the geometric harmony of this magical little garden. Just maintaining and ensuring it's kept in the timeless appearance as was originally intended. We are all merely custodians during our time on this earth.

The sweet sound of bird song punctuated by the pleasant fragrance of rosemary will be forever framed in my memory. And with all those clippings, how could I let that fresh rosemary go to waste?

It was very nice on the roast chicken supper!

If you didn't get around to pruning your apple trees at the end of last year then doing it now (before the end of February), will increase your chance of getting a good crop for the autumn).

There's a sad truth behind why there's such a high yield of fruit. The hottest conditions on record this year have put fruiting trees under enormous stress, making them over produce their seeded fruits. This is known as a 'mast year'. The over production is all part of their need to reproduce, as the parent tree dies. It's as much a global warning as global warming.

Having removed several conifers this week reminded me that using the correct tools for a job makes such a huge difference, cutting your labour time considerably.

Nice end to a busy week and a morning of cutting plum branches. Then there was the added bonus of having a pub across the road, and with it being a Friday, well... how could one resist?!

So I'm joined by my son Connor and the Rugby Ramblers, seeing out the last day of May. Off exploring our stunning landscape and having a good catch-up with some lovely company.

It's a convenient arrangement.
He comes and goes as he pleases. Leaves the bath dirty, making the place sopping wet. THEN he returns again the very next day for the same performance! 🤨
