Here is an update on the last job I posted.
There was two layers of laminate, the bottom layer the kitchen was installed ontop of.
The customers had an ongoing leak some time ago and the builders replaced the top layer of laminate as they was the ones that caused the leak.
They stupidly left the bottom layer of laminate down even after knowing there was an ongoing leak.
This replacement laminate obviously didn't last long as there was tones of trapped water in amongst the laminate underneath and the many layers of underlay used.
Water had been trapped for well over a year and was still wet when we was lifting as it had no way of evaporating.
Underneath all of this stuff was a rotten and mouldy 22mm chipboard floor, then under that a 35mm-40mm layer of polystyrene ontop of a concrete subfloor.
So for us to remedy this we had to remove all the flooring and underlays, and subfloor due to the rott so most of the kitchen had to come out.
Then we had to remove all the bad parts of the old chipboard flooring (ended up being about 70% of it). As most of it had all swollen due to the water, there was also a lot of rotten areas and loads of black mould.
Then we installed 22mm treated chipboard subfloor.
The kitchen was then put back in
We then installed 9mm marine ply to bring our floor hight nearer to where it was.
The hallway floor was uplifted again there was many layers of underlay to try to deal with an un level floor (this is not how to do it) i counted 4 layers of fibreboards and two layers of an other underlay under the hallway floor.
The hallway needed plywood installed and some leveling conpound either end of the hallway to blend all the different floor heights to find a happy medium between the kitchen, hall, office and the lounge. Once we had the subfloor good we then installed the lvt parquet flooring.
This is the first stage of the job done, lots more to be done at this house.
