As Phase One of our renovation project comes to a close, we want to shine a light on someone who has been a constant throughout this journey: Stephen Dixon of Calls Architecture.

Stephen’s enthusiasm for Baysgarth House has been infectious. His attention to detail, his love of the building’s history, and his meticulous approach to every plan have shaped this project from day one.

He’ll be taking a short break from Baysgarth while we raise funds for Phase Two — though with two church restoration projects in Yorkshire on his desk, he certainly won’t be bored.

We’re incredibly grateful for his work so far, and we look forward to the next phase in his capable hands.

We love this photo of the recently completed ice cream kiosk - the new sash window, shutters, cills and lime mortar re-pointing looking fantastic in the sunshine (and the ice cream of course!) 🍦

We have now installed a door bell at the Ice Cream Kiosk. If you’re here for a scoop (or three) and don’t see a member of staff straight away, give it a press and we’ll come running faster than you can say “mint choc-chip”. 🍦🍨

The Tea Room in the listed Stable Block at Baysgarth House Museum is gearing up for its official opening next week! We are really pleased with how this project is shaping up and we are definitely ready for a coffee!

There is a fascinating talk from the Barton Civic Society coming up on Friday, March 21.

Baysgarth House – Clues from the Past and a Vision for the Future with architect Stephen Dixon and Liz Bennet, CEO of The Ropewalk exploring elements of the history of Baysgarth House and discusses the vision and plan for the current renovations to the Museum.

This talk will take place in the Joseph Wright Hall at 2pm. Admission is free for members of the Civic Society and £4 for non-members.

There is plenty going on this week at Baysgarth House, with our contractors Stone Edge North Ltd starting to strip out the stables roof space.

First fix electrics are planned for the end of the week so it’s all go.
