Recent CCTV upgrade completed at The Feel Good Furniture Shop in Armley, Leeds 📹
We upgraded the site to new Hikvision IP CCTV cameras, giving the customer clearer images and improved coverage across the premises.

One of the trickier parts of the job was getting the right viewing angle over the bin area. To make this work properly, we custom-made a bracket to achieve the awkward camera position and ensure the area was covered correctly.
A tidy installation, a practical solution and another commercial CCTV system upgraded.

🔧 Hikvision CCTV Recorder Tip

In this video, we show how to run a Bad Sector Detection test on a Hikvision CCTV recorder.

If your recorder is beeping, showing an HDD error, not recording properly or you cannot play back footage, the hard drive could be starting to fail.

A Bad Sector Detection test helps check the health of the hard drive and can highlight damaged areas that may stop your CCTV system from recording correctly.

🔊 Is your Hikvision CCTV recorder driving you mad with a constant beeping noise?

Don't pull the plug just yet! That repetitive sequence of five sharp beeps is actually an automated warning message telling you that something is wrong with your system storage.
A classic sign of this fault is when you can still see a perfect live feed on your Hik-Connect mobile app but you are completely unable to look back at previous recorded footage or motion events.

Before you spend unnecessary money buying a brand-new hard drive, our experienced CCTV engineers recommend running through these three quick diagnostic checks in this exact order:

1️⃣ Test the power supply unit – An old or weak power pack often struggles to deliver enough voltage to spin up the internal drive properly. Look for the small light on your power brick. If it is completely dead or flashing, the power supply is faulty and needs replacing.

2️⃣ Run a storage repair via a monitor – Plug a television or monitor directly into the back of your recorder using an HDMI or VGA cable. Navigate to your storage device settings, highlight your drive and select the "Repair" option to fix minor file glitches. If the error remains, clicking "INIT" will completely initialise and format the drive to clear out deeper digital corruption.

3️⃣ Inspect the internal cabling – Safely turn off the power, grab a Philips screwdriver and remove the black casing screws from the rear and sides of the recorder. Locate the red or blue SATA data cable and the multi-coloured power lead. Unplug both ends of these cables completely and push them back in firmly to ensure a solid clean connection.

If you have tried all these steps and the buzzer is still going off, your surveillance hard drive has likely reached the end of its working life.

Zone CCTV completed a commercial CCTV upgrade for the Co-op store at Leeds University Union, a high-footfall site open to students, staff and the general public.

Following a site survey, our engineers installed a tailored CCTV system designed to give clearer coverage across the shop floor, tills and key risk areas. The work included wide-angle turret cameras, a 12MP 360-degree fisheye camera over the self-checkout area, a customer-facing CCTV screen and integration with HikCentral so university security could view live footage from the control room.

The installation was carefully planned during the summer holiday period to reduce disruption and ensure the system was ready before the busy university term started.

IP Conflict Issue Fixed!
We were recently called out to Aspire Beds after they experienced issues with their Hikvision CCTV system.
Following a recent internet change, the CCTV setup was affected by an IP conflict, causing problems with the cameras and network connection.

Our engineers attended site, reset the cameras and POE switches, and got the full system working correctly again.

Recent lock upgrade completed.
The existing lock was a 0-star cylinder, which was upgraded to a 3-star anti-snap lock to improve the overall security of the property.
