🌱 How To Take Care Of A Newly Turfed Lawn

A freshly laid lawn needs a little extra care in the first few weeks to establish strong roots and create a healthy, long-lasting lawn.

✅ Water Thoroughly

For the first 2–3 weeks, keep the turf consistently moist. Water deeply rather than little and often, ensuring moisture reaches the soil beneath the turf.

✅ Stay Off The Grass

Avoid excessive foot traffic while the roots are establishing. Walking on new turf too soon can create dips and damage root development.

✅ Don't Mow Too Early

Wait until the grass reaches around 7–8cm tall and the turf feels firmly rooted before the first cut. Never remove more than one-third of the grass height in a single mow.

✅ Check Root Growth

After a couple of weeks, gently lift a corner of the turf. If it resists lifting, the roots are beginning to establish properly.

✅ Feed At The Right Time

Apply a suitable lawn feed around 6–8 weeks after installation to encourage healthy growth and a rich green colour.

✨ A simple change can completely transform a space. ✨

For this project, we installed a bespoke Yellow Limestone crazy paving pathway, carefully weaving it between and around the raised planters to create a natural flow throughout the garden.

To complete the look, we backfilled the remaining areas with Cotswold Cream gravel, creating a clean, low-maintenance finish that complements the stone beautifully and helps tie the entire garden together.

The result? A practical, attractive outdoor space that's easier to maintain and far more enjoyable to use.
