Some BTS from last week’s wedding.

So much of wedding work is unseen. From the daily checks of the flowers beds, watering enough but not too much. Managing a heatwave followed by hail. Knowing when to pick, followed by hours of conditioning every single stem to make sure each one is perfect. Then the scariest part, packing everything up to ensure it travels to the venue in pristine condition. Whilst trying to stay at 20mph along Southend seafront! It all takes time.

But it’s worth it, every bouquet for this wedding was so beautiful and such a joy to create. I grew every single stem for this one which I’m so proud of. Considering I started with 10 jam jars and a garden wall, it’s not bad!

I’ll get round to editing my photos asap and share more soon. I really need to talk about my new favourite flower.

HOW TO CUT FLOWERS

This might seem obvious but there is a knack to cutting flowers. You basically want to cut your stems as long and deep into the plant as possible. I do this with all of mine from simple cornflowers to roses, hydrangeas and dahlias. Many cut flowers are designed to repeat flower. By cutting really long stems you encourage long strong regrowth from the base of the plant. Cutting stems near the top of the flower with encourage growth too far up the stem and give a weird shape which is hard to work with. And if you remember, try to cut at a leaf. This is where the growth hormone in the plant is, it tells the plant to grow resulting in more flowers. Which let’s face it, is the whole point!

Ask me anything! I’m a bit out of ideas this week, I switched IG off for the weekend and having trouble switching back ‘on’. So handing my content to you guys.

If there’s anything you’d like to know about, not just in the garden, anywhere…photography, how many vintage plates I actually own, did I really buy two coats at the weekend during a heatwave…ask away!

So what flowers do you have?

The proper cut flowers are about to bloom. I’d love it if you could enjoy them this year.

I’m sharing my most requested styles to give an idea of what’s on offer. It’s just me here. If there’s something you want but can’t see send me a quick message.

I grow British cut seasonal flowers. This means the varieties of flower changes with the movement of the seasons. My style of arranging mirrors that of nature, making it feel very wild and whimsical. It’s not! Everything I grow has been carefully researched and selected to give the most beautiful colour, scent and movement. These flowers will look and feel different to traditional cut flowers. Give them a try, you’ll be surprised by how tough they are.

The best way to order is to tell me your budget and when you want them for. I send you a quick payment link and then we arrange a collection. Missed collections will be fully charged.

Here’s a price list. Colours and varieties will vary. These photos are an indication of size/style.

Best of the week jam jars / bunches £12
Celebration bouquets - £28
Big bunches - £50
Quickie workshops - 1st Saturday of the month - £25
Best of the week party pack - a mix of vases. let me know your budget and I can do the rest.
Best of the week weddings - decided on a last minute celebration. No worries, message to see what I can conjure up!

Thanks as always for your continued support, I couldn’t do it without you. If you can’t buy the flowers i’d be so grateful if you could like this and any other post. It really makes such a difference.

How to make a WILD TABLE ARRANGEMENT 🐚🌸🌱

A quick floral lesson today. May flowers lend themselves to wild arrangements. Using simple mechanics of moss, chicken wire and any small jar/vase/yoghurt pot you have. You can turn anything into a beautiful arrangement.

Inspired by my recent trip to the Shell Grotto, I turned a favourite shell vase (?!) into a gorgeous tumbley arrangement.

Start with a base foliage (currants are my favourite) and cover as much of the mechanics as you can. Then add something whispy like cow parsley at different heights. Add grasses and or forget-me-nots to make things move. As a final touch tuck in sweet first bloomers like calendula or sweet peas if yours have just begun.

You can use this technique to make anything into a gorgeous arrangement. Don’t worry about making it perfect, this flowers will naturally move into the right space.

Hope you enjoy this one. Xx
