For this living room/dining area, I boarded the ceiling and reskimmed it and the walls. Plastering gives you a perfect smooth finish for decorating without having lumps and bumps.

I had the pleasure of building this small extension from start to finish.
I started by building a frame, then installing windows and a patio door.
Once this was done, I put in a concrete floor and screeded it (made it flat).
It was then boarded and skimmed. The finished room looks amazing now!

The difference between plasterboard and hard-wall…

Hard-wall is sand and cement which is skimmed once dry. This makes the wall solid which makes fixing heavier items such as large units more secure.

Plasterboard is a thin board made from plaster which is then attached onto your walls and ceilings then skimmed. Plasterboard is secure and will hold standard items such as TV’s and mirrors, along with heavier items if secured properly. This is the most popular method with customers.
