A little update from The Little Carpet Shop…

We’ve bumped into a few customers recently who have all said pretty much the same thing:

“You’ve gone a bit quiet on Facebook.”

And they’re right. We have.

The truth is, it’s not because we’re short of work to post. Quite the opposite. We have hundreds of photos sat waiting to be uploaded, and when we finally get around to it, you’ll probably be wishing we’d gone quiet again!

The reality is that time is always better spent looking after customers first.

For example, tonight, instead of sitting down and scheduling a week’s worth of Facebook posts, we’re making sure everything is organised for tomorrow. We’ve got 16 jobs going into 16 different homes, with Liam, Martyn Goodwin, Martin Wilkinson, Matt, Lee and Ethan all out fitting carpets, vinyl, laminate and LVT.

That means checking materials, confirming arrangements, making sure customers know arrival times, and generally ensuring everything runs as smoothly as possible.

Social media is important, but making sure our customers receive the service they’ve paid for will always come first.

So if we’ve been a little quiet online, that’s the reason.

We promise the photos are coming. There are plenty of them, and we’ll get them uploaded as soon as we get a spare minute.

Thanks for keeping us busy, and thanks for continuing to recommend us to your friends and family. It’s genuinely appreciated by all of us at The Little Carpet Shop. 🧡🏠

A quick thank you to our LVT customers this week.

As many of you know, we currently have three dedicated LVT fitting teams: Steve and the lads, Liam and Scott, and Martyn and Sammy. Thanks to your continued support, all three teams are booked solid for the next month, which is something we’re incredibly grateful for.

Unfortunately, last week we were let down by a supplier who delivered 14 packs of flooring from three different production batches. During installation, Martyn spotted that one of the batches was a slightly different shade. It would have been easy to ignore, but that’s not how we work. We refused to fit a floor that wasn’t right and arranged for replacement material instead.

The downside was that it immediately knocked several jobs behind schedule. When all of our fitting teams are fully booked, a delay on one job has a knock-on effect for several others.

What has impressed us most this week is the understanding shown by every customer affected. Not one person has been unreasonable. Everyone has appreciated that the same thing could just as easily have happened on their own installation, and if it had, they’d want us to do exactly the same thing rather than fit a floor that wasn’t perfect.

We’ve spent the week juggling schedules, working later, rearranging jobs and doing everything possible to minimise the disruption. Your patience and understanding have made a stressful situation much easier to manage.

So this isn’t really an apology post—it’s a thank you.

Thank you for trusting us to do things properly, thank you for your patience, and thank you for reminding us that we genuinely have some of the best customers we could ask for.

We appreciate every single one of you.

One of todays jobs was helping somebody who’d seen one of those “Fit your own stair runner for £99” videos online.

Now, don’t get me wrong, you might well find a runner for £99.

What the videos don’t tell you is the rest of the shopping list.

Runner: £99

Stair tool: £25

Decent staple gun: £250

Underlay: £60

Gripper rods: £30

Knife and blades: £15

Miscellaneous fitting materials: £20

Total before you’ve even started: £499

Then there’s the bit nobody mentions.

The video we were shown had the woman’s husband helping her. So that’s two people spending the best part of a day fitting a stair runner.

If they could have earned just £100 each that day doing their normal jobs, that’s another £200.

So now your £99 stair runner has effectively become a £699 project.

And after all that, if it doesn’t go to plan, you still end up paying somebody to come and sort it out.

We’re not saying don’t have a go yourself. Plenty of people enjoy DIY and do a brilliant job.

We’re just saying those videos aren’t always telling the full story.

Sometimes a £99 job isn’t really a £99 job at all.

It is disappointing that we have had to make this post, but we feel we have been left with little choice.

Tom Ashton no longer works for The Little Carpet Shop and has not done for some time.

Tom’s employment was terminated following serious concerns, including customer balances being collected and not paid into The Little Carpet Shop, work not being completed in accordance with invoices, and other issues that came to light during our investigations. We have also had to return to and rectify a number of jobs at our own expense.

We have since become aware that Tom had been giving his personal contact details to some of our customers and offering to carry out future work independently.

More recently, several people have contacted us stating that they paid deposits directly to Tom for work to be completed and that he subsequently failed to attend. We would like to make it absolutely clear that any arrangements, payments or agreements made directly with Tom Ashton are entirely separate from The Little Carpet Shop and are not connected to our business in any way.

Whilst we are disappointed that some customers chose to bypass us after the time, effort and service we provided, we have still tried to assist where we can by confirming that Tom no longer works for us and by providing any details we hold when requested.

If Tom Ashton has given you his personal number, please be aware that he does not represent The Little Carpet Shop. We strongly recommend that you do not assume any work arranged with him is associated with us.

If you have already entered into an agreement with him directly, that agreement is between you and him, not The Little Carpet Shop.

Thank you to all of our genuine customers who continue to support us. We remain committed to providing the level of service and reliability that has helped our business grow.

Went into the The Little Carpet Shop to pay for our LVT that we are having fitted in a couple of weeks, I needed our bathroom floor sorting and saw a vinyl cut off in the shop, it now looks great in our bathroom, thanks guys, can't wait to get the rest of our flooring down.

Already had our stairs carpeted by Martin and his team, I would not hesitate to recommend them, and that's why I keep going back.

Amazing Service and lovely people 😁😁😁😁😁
