The secret to good effective tiling? literally the starting point. you need to get a level and plan out your space in advance. Take into account shelves, window sills and the like. Best way to get a level is to buy or borror a laser level. From then in tools are important. use a good cutter with a diamond cut disk.
Then chose a good adhesive. Do not be tempted to skimp on this as it will cost you time and yes....more money in the long run.
