One of our customers retrofitted ground source heat pumps. Fitted with full open energy monitoring kit - without manufacturer’s fudging the figures - for heating and hot water. Combine system SCOP of 4.85 from installation. Made some adjustment to the hot water and should start to see the efficiency go higher. From installation Heating averages at 5.69 and hot water at 3.47. This makes it the 3rd best performing GSHP system in the uk at heatpumpmonitor.org. Something a little different, replacing an old over sized 12.5kw ground source heat pump.

Calculated heat loss at 5.89kw @ -3c, supply and install an inverter driven Stiebel Eltron with an output of 7.6kw. Fully inverter drive. With modulation down to an output of 1kw. 300l cylinder and 100l buffer to help with summer short cycling. Renew the undersized pipework to the UFH manifold. Remove the high temperature manifold to further increase efficiency’s and replace with a low temperature. Balance flow rates to each room as per the system design and heat loss calculations.

System running very well after around 2 months. Looking forward to seeing a full years average on the efficiency’s. They are shaping up to be excellent!

🎬 There’s something so satisfying about watching a time lapse! If only the install was this quick 🤷‍♂️

🔧 On Saturday we installed a Daikin 8kw wall-hung split system (heating only). We removed the existing ground source heat pump as no replacements were available 🤯 and there wasn’t enough ground loop to make it viable.

* I’m currently working through a substantial backlog of jobs with the RHI deadline looming - these customers have been patiently waiting without heating for a replacement system since Christmas. 🆘

🔥 Another install from the past week - this is a Daikin wall-hung 8 kw Altherma split system with a 250l hot water cylinder.

This split system doesn’t require added glycol (anti freeze ❄️) as most mono block units do - glycol reduces system efficiencies, increasing running costs and reducing heat transfer 💰 🤯

♻️ The use of glycol is not environmentally friendly so, where possible, we choose this type of glycol-free system, saving the customer money and the environment too 🌍

🔥 These photos show the readings from one of our recent Daikin air to water split system heat pumps with a 230 litre hot water cylinder installs.

💡 Energy consumed 2198 kWh/8945 kWh = SCOP (seasonal coefficient of performance) 4.1. This is a combined reading for heating, hot water and legionella cycles 💦

* seasonal efficiency is a new way of measuring the true energy efficiency of heating and cooling technology, over the entire year. This new measure gives a more realistic indication of the energy efficiency and environmental impact of a system 😎

(FYI a reading of 4.1 is cracking 💪)

This was retrofitted to a 15-year-old house - these efficiencies are fantastic 🙌

⚡️ High efficiencies are only possible when a system has been designed, installed and commissioned correctly- this system also has a lot more to give when we bear in mind that this is the worst season weather-wise 💨 🌧
