Good news, David Gallagher of Limavady Chimneys has finally completed his Sweeping chimneys in Historic and Thatched buildings course.

Limavady Chimneys is now certified to deal with Historic, Heritage and Thatched buildings and is currently the only person in Northern Ireland to hold such a certificate.

If you have a historic, Heritage or thatched building and you need your chimneys swept or need specialist advice on the latest regulations and best practice for your insurance you now have someone to call that has been formally trained by THE GUILD OF MASTER CHIMNEY SWEEPS.

Good news, David Gallagher of Limavady Chimneys has been accepted into The Guild of Master Chimney Sweeps. The Guild is the most prestigious chimney sweep assosiation in the UK with over 500 members and there is only one other member in Northern Ireland(Newry). Feeling very proud :)

Just to let you know that I do commercial premises also, you need 5 million pounds of public liability insurance to work in commercial premises and 2 million to work in domestic premises. It covers both parties and not a good idea to employ anyone to work on your property without it. Well a lovely job today, stove swept, inspected and safety certificate issued for customers insurance. Unbelievably nice coffee came after the work was completed, I declined a cake (too close to dinner) but they did look amazing. Will definitely be coming here again for a coffee and cake. very happy customer at The yellow bird :)

The Rectory house of Ballintoy church, what a lovely building and over 300 years old. Seriously tall Chimneys especially the basement stove and fireplace, Lovely place to spend the morning. The basement stove had not worked well since installation 5 years ago, it does now(badly placed insulation). Very happy customer. :)

I have all the equipment to clean even the tallest of Chimneys, turns out last person that swept the chimney ran out of rods and missed the small birds nest at the very top.

I ALWAYS see the rods out the top of the chimney regardless of how tall the chimneys are or how difficult. It's the only way to be sure there are no blockages and the chimney is clean and clear. Very happy customer :)

Three other sweeps (non registered) had been out to the stove as it's always had a problem since being installed 4 years ago. After sweeping the stove it would mostly work for a few months then block up again so the customer called me.

I went up on the roof and noticed the flexible flue was too long and nearly touching the top of the chimney cowl. Soot would build up and block it again as there was only about a centimetre gap for the fumes to escape.

I cut the flexible flue shorter (no extra cost) and fitted a taller cowl. Very happy customer as the stove now works properly with an excellent draw. Smoke tested perfect.
