My apologies folks as I have busy in the background & was unable to post anything for a quiet awhile due to a shoulder injury and the weather.
What we did please find the before and after photos of a very large property that was undertaken and the customer was very delighted with the finished result.
The level of preparation, care, and attention to detail was outstanding from start to finish. This was a very large property with an enormous amount of exterior woodwork, and it was clear just how much time, skill, and effort went into achieving such a high-quality finish.
Following a full assessment of the existing coating, I was advised that an oil-based exterior coating system would be the most suitable option for this property, rather than another water-based system. The previous water-based paint had not provided the level of durability or protection the timber required against the varied and often harsh weather conditions experienced throughout the year. This professional advice gave me confidence that the chosen Dulux Trade Weather shield 8 Year Protection system would provide a more robust and longer-lasting finish for my woodwork.
The old water-based coating had deteriorated, so every surface was thoroughly prepared before being repainted using Dulux Trade Weather shield 8 Year Protection. The preparation was exceptional, ensuring a long-lasting, durable finish that will protect the timber for many years to come.
An additional level of care was taken by treating all exposed knots in the timber with a professional knotting solution before repainting. This was necessary because the previous water-based coating had never properly sealed the knots, allowing resin and tannin staining to bleed through the existing paintwork. Applying the knotting solution before the Dulux Trade Weather shield system significantly reduced the risk of future staining and helped achieve a cleaner, longer-lasting finish.
Every piece of ironmongery was removed, carefully sanded to provide a proper key, and then recoated using Hammerite Smooth Black Gloss, giving the exposed metalwork a minimum of 8 years' protection against the elements. The contrast of the freshly finished black ironmongery against the grey Dulux Trade Weather shield is stunning and perfectly complements the overall appearance of the gates and garage doors, giving the entire property a premium, professionally finished look.
Particular attention was also given to the existing colour-matched silicone seals. Rather than painting over them for the sake of speed, they were deliberately left untouched because they had been professionally matched to both the sandstone brickwork and the woodwork. This meant every edge of the timber had to be carefully hand-cut in with absolute precision. There was virtually no margin for error, and the level of skill and patience required to achieve such crisp, clean lines without marking the silicone was exceptional.
The workmanship throughout was first-class. No shortcuts were taken, and the time, effort, and attention to detail really show in the finished result. It was a challenging project, but the transformation has been more than worth it.
Throughout the entire project, I was kept informed of the progress and was delighted with the standard of workmanship being achieved at every stage.
