Daughter love. This is my 16 year old's room which was my only indoor project during the first
When we initially moved in, she was 14. I quickly painted her room just so she had her own space without bare plaster, then let her plan her own room design, which we decorated together. I treasure the fact that we spent some lovely quality time together and that she is so proud of the transformation (swipe to see before). She chose and upcycled her own furniture, after which we had a girlie trip to for the mirror, light, meatballs of course 🥲 and the dypsis lutescens (large fern plant) followed by for the boho dream catcher. Hopefully she has caught the interiors bug from mama bear 🤞🤞🤞 and I can't wait for the next project we can do together. What's your best lockdown project so far?

Composition. I find I am attracted to all sorts of accessories, both vintage and modern. Theoretically they shouldn't really go together, but, if you like it just do it! During a session this little lot fell together and, although both vintage and modern, it works because its mostly the same colour. I painted my barn star black as white just didn't look right. Your home should be full of things you love. This takes time so don't rush and only buy things you truly adore! Your home will be unique and more importantly, YOU will love it 🖤.

Progress at last! Now I like to mix my styles, I am a firm believer in doing/using/buying things you love to make your home unique to you. But I also like to restore original features or, if thats not possible, do my own take on the original style. Hence the panelling and herringbone in the hallway, both of which were popular in the 1930s. It took me 10 days between these 2 shots. Let me tell you, DIY panelling is not for the faint hearted. The amount of filling and sanding required, especially if you have a period home, (no straight walls) is insane. Oh and the minute you paint MDF it goes furry, which then has to be sanded off, not to mention at least 2 coats of undercoat and 3 of top coat before it looks any good!

To get to this point in our project has taken nearly 3 years! When you take on a large scale building project, sometimes life and its ups and downs can get in the way. We had a series of family events which I am hoping has now run its course, as well as taking a job which ended up being extremely long hours. Hence the 3 years. When we bought this 1930s bungalow had been unloved for many years. Now, it is finally being finished and injected with love and attention, once again becoming a proper family home which I have totally fallen in love with x

When you receive a commission it's always nerve racking hoping that your client will be happy. When its someone you are friends with it means even more. Special effort went into this one to get it right and I'm so happy with the results. I hope it will last many years to come 💝.

I fully sanded everything, then applied 2 coats of Good Home furniture paint from B and Q in colour 'Tyrone' followed by 3 coats of matt Ronseal clear varnish to all the bare wood with a light sand of the wood before the final coat of varnish, making the bare wood super smooth!
