That’s June done and dusted and it’s been a bit of a bumpy month at TMGA…

Lack of heat causing Sweetcorn to be ages behind last month and the cats living locally have enjoyed digging at them.

Chard has been very poor and really slow, other years I’ve had loads but now.

Peas been the worst yet but no idea why… absolutely nothing

Not all bad though cause I’m having a bumper crop of Pak Choy, Kale, Salad and even my Rhubard has been having a 2nd run. Potato and Onions nicely coming on as well.

Lots of weeding done this afternoon, picking and blanching Kale, and all to the sounds of Glastonbury 2024!

Grafted this weekend! Spinach, Spuds, Peas, Kale and Pak Choi into the ground!

Corn coming along nicely along with the onions!

Ian Brown - Solarized
Gomez - Liquid Skin
Republica - Republica
Athlete - Vehicles and Animals
Suede - Dog Man Star
The Lightning Seeds - Dizzy Heights

Well today was ”the day”… sun high in the sky, 5 hours of getting the place all prepped for the season ahead.
All beds cleared, fertiliser added, some grass cuttings added, and then everything raked through.
It’s just one of those jobs you have to be in the mood to blast through, and with the notion on me, all that was required was a great playlist blasting through MGA.

Noel Gallagher - Council Skies
Ian Brown - Music From The Spheres
Manics - Postcards From A Young Man
Charlatans - Wonderland
Stereophonics - JEEP
The Verve - Storm In Heaven

Freezing frog over TMGA today but operation cleanup has to start!

2023 was not easy despite results being decent. Hoping that 2024 is a lot warmer and drier than 2023.

Pulled the last of the potato up as well which was a nice surprise.

The humble pea… they haven’t had an easy summer. 8 weeks of rain and cold, they never really got a chance to get match fit.
A warm late summers evening at TMGA, so I’ve decided to pick the last and freeze for the winter. Only 5 pots but I can’t deny I’ve had a fair few cheeky tester ones when walking around it all this year.

Not much left to pick at TMGA, but very pleased with the sweet corn 🌽
These got just a short dip into boiling water before ending up smothered in butter. However…. Chowder is calling. I still have a lot of potato, corn, bay leaf, onions, chives and celery.

🧅 ONION DAY 🧅

I think that’s enough! One of the easiest things to grow and with these usually ending up in a curry then this should keep me going for a while!

Whilst Southern Europe remains in full custody of the sun, there is still plenty of growth and produce coming at the MGA

Today I picked my first cabbage, turnip and potatoes which was exciting! This along with onion, peas, thyme, mint, and rosemary.

Sunday consisted of roasted pork belly, with bacon and cabbage, roasted turnip with thyme, steamed new potato, and minted peas.

It’s been a wet and pretty miserable couple of days weeks, but everything is still going strong at TMGA.
Daily fresh peas, chard, Pak Choy and salad leaves.
My first onion of the year harvested to check the quality and it’s looking good.
Salad is great when it’s warm and sunny but when it’s wet and windy, then a curry is always a winner. Thai Red this time with Prawns and all those great veggies.
