An L shaped garden covering about 5 hectares on very sandy soil. When the new owners took over it was very overgrown with knee high grass, rhododendrons that had not been managed for decades, a buried sunken garden, unmanaged woodland with far too many sweet chestnuts and about 2000 metres of overgrown hedges of holly, laurel, leylandii and mixed native hedging. There was also a rotting timber and corrugated iron double garage which had been converted to a music studio. The single entrance to the drive was too small and parking space was very limited. The project involved redesigning the access to create a drive with entrance and exit and parking for half a dozen cars, demolition of the existing timber and corrugated iron 'studio' and building a spacious new double garage and potting shed, thinning and managing the woodland, hedges, lawns and rhododendrons, restoring the sunken garden, restoring an old pond as a wildlife pond and planting a new orchard and wildflower meadow around it and the existing fruit cage
