It’s been a busy few months!! This is a job from back in May, where reuse and recycle was high on the list. Patio moved closer to the house and all soil retained turned in to a mini allotment. A pond was also created, together with thoughtful planting will make this garden a wildlife friendly safe space.

This job is what we are all about here at PGPD. This corner is only 4sqm, but it just required something more to help bring the whole garden to life. We have planted 4 black bamboo (Phyllostachys Nigra) centred with a flamingo willow salix - hakuro nishiki, using a skimmia to draw the eye down to the front, interplanting with two red cordyline, three ferns and six blue grasses (festuca glauca) keep a look out for later posts when this has all grown on together 👌

This job was all about the TLC. The original archway had European honeysuckle and Chinese wisteria growing through and around it, which had to be saved. I built the new archway over the original, supporting the growth with tree straps, finishing off with a brace timber, which also protects the weight of the honeysuckle. Many more years of growth lie ahead.

Transformation Thursday!! Customer’s Spec - Removal of trees to open up the garden and create more space for a larger lawn and plant border. I think some shade tolerant climbing roses will work really nice against that fence, giving colour throughout the seasons. NB trees were inspected for nests before work was carried out.

Garden renovation from late September, it’s great to see what can be achieved in a short space of time. Pictures 1 and 2 are from the first day I turned up, the garden hadn’t had any work done for over two years. Pictures 3 and 4 are after my first visit which involved cutting everything back on the lawn and clearing up the pathway. 5 and 6 show the full clean up and the lawn was already starting to regrow. I’m looking forward to seeing how this garden begins to develop this year.

It was great to get back to one of my customers’ gardens today. A nice first cut of the year to lawns at the front and rear of the property. They will need some ongoing work throughout the year to correct undulations and patches, but we will have it looking 👌 for the summer

After a great day yesterday on the fruit grafting workshop, I soaked my grafted apple tree rootstocks overnight. This morning I potted them on in to pots big enough for the roots to get started. The graft from the branch should take hold on the rootstock over the next 6-8 weeks, keeping my fingers crossed all goes well, at which point then can be planted in to their finals positions, and hopefully start to produce fruit within a couple of seasons 🤞🤞
