Its been a busy day today and has made me thankful for my day job !

I’ve once again perfected the art of cushion jenga ….now able to stack dozens of cushions and throws into an unfeasibly small space.

After that it was a favourite game of pelmet sorting where you locate the pelmets for each job and carefully arrange them in piles/racks as required.

Next it was time to attack the racks of curtains and get them sorted out into jobs ready for dispatch.

We then loaded the van ready for its trip tomorrow and cleared even more space.

Finally it was time to give the office an early spring clean and it looks so much better now than it did when we arrived this morning.

When I look at the number of curtains, cushions, blinds and throws in these photos I am in awe at the organisation that goes into the back office processes at DJM DESIGNS LIMITED where the team get the products correctly measured, manufactured and fitted every time.

Tomorrow I will be logging onto my computer aching and glad that I dont have to lift anything heavier than a mug of tea !

A domestic blind installation with all elements automated using Somfy controls. For those who don’t know, they can be mains or battery powered. It it so easy to open the blinds using the phone app or the remote!

As we at DJM Designs move well into our 7th year of operation I looked at a couple of photos from our early days when we worked from home and stored projects in our conservatory and compared it to how we have evolved.

Today at the office we took delivery of another few projects which are due to be fitted in the coming weeks. Its wierd just how empty our dispatch area looked this morning compared with how it now looks with every rack full and every available surface being used to store close to 100 pelmets.

I could continue and show the accompanying boards and rails/poles for each of these curtains which are in another store room….but will save that side for a future post.

A busy week preparing and assembling the boards and rails, a busier day today unloading and preparing the curtains for dispatch and next week promises more of the same.

Running our own company is never dull and every day brings something different to challenge us. Long may it continue !

Today we continued work on another big project getting the boards and rails cut and assembled in readiness for fitting.
What you see here is under half the total number of boards so it looks like I’m going to be kept busy next week!

Never a dull day here at DJM DESIGNS LIMITED and once again I understand why my gym membership is no longer needed.

A van filled with fabric for our latest project off to be cut and crafted into the finest curtains !

All I need to do is unload it at the other end ……

As our 6th year in business draws to a close we have not just been busy producing outdoor furnishings, but have also recently been completing hotel projects in Leeds and Birmingham, and care homes in Chesterfield and Oxfordshire.

Big thank you to all of our customers and suppliers, and we are looking forward to working with everyone again in the coming year

If you need new cushions and seat pads for your garden furniture to make it comfortable or to update the decor we will be happy to help.

Seat pads and cushions in the picture use fabric from Andrew Martin, are thicker than the ones they replaced and much more comfortable. Any size of seat or cushion can be created.

With many outdoor fabric colours and designs to choose from, just let us know what you would like and their dimensions!

Today has seen the van arrive and get loaded up by the DJM DESIGNS LIMITED team (well Paul Barrigan and myself to be honest).

The dispatch room shown below is organised to store projects prior to being sent out for fitting. This keeps the main store/work room available for storing longer term projects and making up boards and rails.

As you can see here, the early shots show full racks of curtains/voiles, a floor full of half the tracks needed and the shelving holds all the pelmets and roman blinds

The shots taken after loading the van show how the system works as the next project has already started being loaded into the space vacated. No time to rest here….see a space and start to use it !

I know I am new to all of this but am getting to grips with the way pelmets need to be handled and stored, how to move and load different curtain types and how to make and store boards/rails.

Its going to be a non-stop learning experience for me guided by some of the best in the business. This is made so much easier when the team see the humour in every situation making the day fly by with no pressure or stress!
