This customer rang us at Woolton lock repair in Liverpool L18 as she was unable to open the front door from the outside.
After we gained entry we found the problem was a defective centre casing.
Unfortunately there was no direct replacement part available as the door was old and the part was obsolite.
After a search we found we had to replace the entire locking strip.
Once this was installed, the door worked fine again.
A happy customer.

Good morning from Woolton Lock Repair. A customer from yesterday had a simple but very inconvenient problem, the latch had failed when trying to open the door from the outside.
A new gearbox was fitted and the problem was solved and the customer was happy. We carry a full range of replacement parts from all the main manufacturers so we can generally repair your defective door on the same day.

An update from my last post... sorry i wasn't able to upload the video to show the completed job. This is a twin spindle mechanism that could not be replaced as it's now obsolute. We had to change it to one spindle and have new handles. A very happy customer as it saved them a lot of money on a new door.

Notice from the photos that both the inside and outside handle are not working correctly. The latch has an intermittant fault and does not always retract .
The handles are also failing.
This is a very old door with a double spindle Monarch Union mechanism.
This is no longer so the only option was to change it to a single through spindle.
We will also have replace the handles and fit a new anti snap lock.
An update will be posted once the new parts have been fitted
