This is a Caudiciform; this word is from the Latin caudex meaning ‘trunk of a tree’ and formis meaning ‘shaped’ or ‘having form of.’
Caudiciforms can be from different families and orders but they all have a swollen stem, trunk, or aboveground roots.

Jatropha podagrica is a part of the Euphorbiaceae family and is a caudiciform as it has a very swollen stem! These plants have large, lush, softly-lobed leaves and produce vibrant flowers year round. They are able to self-seed and their seed pods are explosive!

I love delivery day! We have some of the most beautiful Pink Princesses in stock and the Hoya ‘Flamingo Dream’ are lush!!
We have mini Begonia, Hoya and Euphorbia as well as huge Hoya sp. aff Burtoniae!

I love the smell of the shop when I first open the door on a hot day, it’s super earthy.
Of course I need to water. Always. And making potting mix, an essential at this time of year when everything is growing so well.

Peling really lucky to have had such a lovely year so far. It’s been full of plants and the blooms have brought a lot of joy.

We are so stoked to work with Café Barbette
These guys are the real deal. They’ve nailed it with Maray and this new wine bar concept in Chester is a gem.

For the outside display we went for large Portuguese laurel and Elaeagnus ebbingei for height and to act as a natural screening. The Fatsia japonica ‘Spiders Web’ add an interesting leaf shape and a nice touch of variegation. We added Stipa for movement and texture and pops of colour from the Pieris 💚

Inside we added classics; Ficus elastica, huge Kentia palms and Maranta.

I’m so happy with the shop right now, everything looks lush and we’ve got some really special plants in.

Anthurium pedatoradiatum is so dreamy - I’m a sucker for palmate leaves! We have the Monstera ‘Burle Marx Flame’, this plant is on a lot of wishlists. The Euphorbia platyclada is probably my favourite in this week, I know it’s not for everyone but I love the weird ones. And having Tillandsia usneoides in and in bloom is a real treat!

T E T R A S T I G M A V O I N I E R I A N U M

This beautiful plant is part of the Vitaceae family (Grapes) and its native range is Laos to Vietnam. It’s an incredibly fast growing liana and those curly tendrils are a delight! It adapts well to ambient humidity and has been a dream to care for since it arrived.
