I'm out near Princes Park this morning in one of my regular gardens removing some ivy, but only the parts without berries. Those parts that do have berries will be left until the spring. Ivy berries are an essential part of the diet of many wild birds during the winter months when other food is scarce and can be a life saving natural food source to our feathered friends! 🐦

Look at this absolute corker of a before and after! Yes, it's the same garden and the washing line hasn't been moved. 🤩

This has to be one of the biggest transformations we've done, and it's still not complete. Now we've reached the creative stage (my favourite bit) and it's time to plan which plants are going to go where. 🌷

Remember when I said there were things I couldn't talk about yet? Well, I can finally talk about one of those things. 👀

I'm proud to announce that I've passed the RHS Level 2 certificate in Practical Horticulture with a merit! 🌿 Absolutely made up with that result! 👌🏻

I might treat myself to a beer to celebrate after I've finished clearing up this lovely but overgrown garden. 🍺

Yet another recycling run completed! 💚 Which means more of your garden waste is being turned into compost and reused to grow grass and crops on agricultural land. The cows are made up! 🐄

There are a few exciting things going on behind the scenes at Wild Roots at the moment, most of which I can't talk about just yet. 🤫

One thing I can share with you is that I'm now City & Guilds NPTC trained and qualified in the operation of a ride on mower! 🚜

Isn't a bird's nest a thing of beauty? You have to appreciate the effort, art and craft that goes into them. Birds are amazing creatures! 🐦‍⬛

Of course it goes without saying that this is an abandoned nest from last year I encountered when taking out an old woody shrub, and not a live nest. Always check VERY carefully between March and September if you are cutting down or trimming shrubs, hedges or trees because it's illegal to disturb nesting birds. If there's anything nesting, don't touch it! 🚫
