Job done a while back. A floating ceiling! Didn’t want to lose the 9”coving. Original ceiling knackerd. So we overboard up to coving perimeter. Put a 6mm render stop bead 3mm away from the coving all the way round & pulled out the ceiling level from 6mm to nothing & re-skimmed. The back end off the stop bead was filled with and chalked. 👌
