'Mid Wales Invasive Plant Species W**d Control’, (MWIPSWC).

For people who are suffering from an Invasive Plant Species problem, like Japanese Knotweed on their property, it can be a nightmare for those finding that they have an issue. Not only can it wreck your garden, in severe cases it can totally take it over, causing damage to both hard structures and surfaces.

Here are a few of the Invasive Plant Species that can cause a problem:

Japanese Knotweed

Giant Knotweed
Bohemian Knotweed
Himalayan Knotweed

Himalayan Balsam
HogW**d & Giant HogW**d

If you have an Invasive Plant Species on your property, it is not a problem you should ignore. This is because the problem will only get worse. Mortgage lenders are very unlikely to lend to a potential buyer and this will make it very hard to sell a property with this sort of problem. Property surveyors will highlight an issue.

The root structure of many of the Knotweeds are extensive and they can travel long distances underground. This will cause it to potentially spread to neighbouring properties as well.

Due to the extensive root structure, this makes the plant very hardy and difficult to eradicate quickly. A treatment and monitoring programme will need to be implemented to interrupt the growing cycle of the plant. Even when it appears that the problem has been resolved the roots can remain dormant for a number of years before reappearing.

I have been aware of people paying thousands through fear to have a Japanese Knotweed treated. This should not be the case.

If you have a Japanese Knotweed or other Invasive Plant Species problem, this is what you should and shouldn’t do:

Things You Must Not Do:

- Don’t Panic.
- Don’t Cut It Down. (This will only stimulate the roots and increase the problem).
- Don’t Try And Hide It.
- Don’t Ignore It.

- Don’t Try And Treat It Yourself From Reading Untrustworthy Sources On The Internet.

- Don’t Build Over It.

- Don’t Put A W**d Membrane And Stone Dressing Over It. (That Won’t Work).

Things You Must Do:

- You Must Take Positive Action.

- You Get Professional Advice.

- You Have A Legal Duty To Deal With The Problem.

- Legally You Must Not Allow It To Spread, Especially To Adjoining Properties.

- You Need To Have A Professional Treatment And Monitoring Plan In Place.

When you get Professional Advice, you will be far more at ease with the problem. The reality is it will not be a quick resolve. But it should also not cost vast amounts of money to resolve the issue.

If you have read this far. Your next step is to contact me to help deal with the problem.

I look forward to hearing from you.

There are a number of different types of Knotweed that are common in the UK although most people are only aware of Japanese Knotweed. Most of it looks fairly similar.
But here is an interesting article in the Daily Mail.
If you realise that you have Japanese Knotweed or a variant on your property, doing nothing is not a option. Get expert help from someone who is qualified.
MWIPSWC is always willing to give help and advice as to what would be the best way forward.

EXCLUSIVE: Stuart Marshall found the species in the garden of a house he inherited in Aylesbury, Bucks. Experts at Environet identified the invasive plant and successfully removed it.

During the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) government restrictions on maintaining safe distances. The ‘Working Practices’ of Jamie’s Garden Services is being reviewed Daily. There is still a requirement for the basic fabric of society to be maintained and people have to stay safe while fulfilling this criteria.

1) The only work that will be undertaken is where I can't work as a ‘lone or safe zone worker’ and be able to maintain a safe distance from others. So please respect this and keep your distance.

2) All work that involves working in close proximity with others where a safe working distance can not be maintained has been cancelled.

3) The conditions I have for undertaking any task is that I have to be able to loan work and be able to maintain a safe distance from others.

4) For all my domestic customers they have the option of if I undertake work for them. If I do, I don't have to see them face to face and anything I need to know is discussed remotely prior to being on site.

5) I have three customers where I have worked on their site where they are self isolating so they just wave through the window.

6) For any local authority or commercial contracts I have to ensure that I can work in a safe zone. Most of these jobs I don't normally have to deal with anyone and I just get on and do it.

7) At this stage the government rule is that if you can work safely then you should do. This is to help prevent the economy from completely collapsing. It is called Key Workers Phase 2.

8 ) NO DRINKS, NO TEA/COFFEE, NO CAKE, NO BISCUITS etc can be accepted from customers during this current situation. So please don’t be offended if they are declined.

10) But as you know this can change in an instance. If I have to stop working I will contact customers and let them know.

These Are Scary Times. Please Stay Safe......

Kindest Regards

Did my first site visit of the year today on a client who has multiple Himalayan & Japanese Knotweed infestations on their site.
The infestations cover a fairly wide area and the treatment programme started part way through last year. Although it is still early and only just hitting spring. I was surprised when on site that there was only one fresh stem above ground given how warm and wet it has been.
I am sure that in the next couple of weeks there will be plenty more stems appearing to kick off the second years treatment programme.

Four weeks after treating the largest infestation of Himalayan Knotweed I have seen the results are looking good so far. It will still be a long journey to eradicate it completely. But at least it is a positive start to the process at the 4x week stage.

Thanks to Vivid Stitches Ltd for supplying my new business logo'ed work wear. Excellent service as always. The quality of long sleeved Polo Shirts are great and much smarter for business than the short sleeved version. Hopefully they will offer better protection when working. The fleeces and the summer jacket also look awesome with the quality embroidery. A very fast, efficient, professional service with excellent quality garments.

I would highly recommend Vivid Stitches to anyone looking for bespoke embroidered garments.

Thanks Jamie.
