Another beautiful Geranium phaeum.
This one was sold to me as 'Walkure', although I suspect it may actually be 'Wendy's Blush'.
Whatever its true name, it has been flowering beautifully for weeks in the Cranogwen Memorial Garden, Llangrannog, and has proved to be a wonderful addition to the planting.

One of the joys of this time of year is seeing the hardy geraniums at their best.
With such a wide range of colours, forms and flowering times, there's almost always something in bloom from late spring through to autumn.

Some varieties thrive in full sun, others are perfectly happy in shade, making them incredibly versatile garden plants. From pure white and soft pinks to rich purples and vibrant blues, there's a hardy geranium for almost every situation.

They're not just beautiful. Their open flowers provide an excellent source of nectar for bees and other pollinators throughout the season.

Reliable, long-flowering, wildlife-friendly and easy to grow 😊 some of my favourite garden plants.

pic's include: Geranium oxianum 'Album', Geranium thurstonianum, Geranium nodosum 'Blueberry Ice', Geranium 'Rozanne', Geranium magnificum and Geranium phaeum 'Samnbor'

Bringing the design to life.
As the weather warmed up in May, this garden was finally planted, and I've only just got around to sharing a few photos.

It's always remarkable how quickly a garden begins to respond. As soon as the plants arrived, even before planting, bees, butterflies and other insects were already exploring the new arrivals.

While the structure of the garden and the plants are now in place, the garden will continue to grow, knit together and soften over time.

Good gardens aren't created in a day. They evolve season by season, becoming richer, more diverse and more beautiful with every year that passes.

Really sad to hear that Nigel Dunnett has died.
I was lucky enough to learn from him on the naturalistic planting design course with . Even though it was only a short course, it’s had a big impact on how I approach planting.
He was a really generous teacher: open, thoughtful, and clearly passionate about sharing what he knew. I genuinely loved his sessions.
His approach to planting continues to ripple out through so many gardens, including my own work. 🌿
He will be sadly missed πŸ’š

Planting time!
Before anything goes into the ground, everything is sorted and grouped, then set out and adjusted on site.
Spacing, balance, sight lines and relationships between plants... this is where the design moves from paper to reality.
Good planting isn’t random. It’s considered, measured and designed to evolve. 🌿
