Jurassicplants Nurseries

Jurassicplants Nurseries Growers of edible, unusual and exotic, hardy trees and shrubs. An RHS Gold award winning mail order company.

We are a family run mail order nursery, based in North Wales in the beautiful Vale of Clwyd, specialising in unusual and hard-to-find ornamentals, edible trees and shrubs and living fossils. Included in our plant range are many species from Asia, also specially selected, cold tolerant fig and pomegranate varieties from the Mediterranean region and a wonderful selection of unusual climbers, fragran

t shrubs, winter flowering species and bonsai starter plants. We propagate and grow all of our stock on site from seed or cuttings, we do not import or buy any of our plants, instead, we take care of the plant from its very first day of life. We also do not just propagate solely from cuttings, as we regularly order or collect seeds from different European countries. Propagating from seed is a great way to maintain nature's diversity and gene pool.

The Cherry Silverberry fruit has arrived early this year! One of the earliest fruiting shrubs and so much underrated. Delicious, juicy, sweet fruits with a splash of sourness. A delight to behold in early June and it will even happily fruit in a pot! ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’

No we haven't started a turf growing business, this is our sea of seedlings from one of the oldest living plant species on the planet, a living fossil. The Dawn Redwood (Metasequoia glyptostroboides) was around during the age of the dinosaurs when young dinos would have probably played hide and seek amongst these magnificent trees. ๐Ÿฆ– A population of Dawn Redwood was discovered in China in 1943 (mother tree distributed as a seedling to Hungary by a Harvard University expedition) therefore the mother tree of our seedlings is a direct descendent from this long lost population. These tiny seedlings will reach around a foot in height by this October and we currently have our own population of 6584 seedlings!! ๐Ÿซ ๐ŸŒฒ๐Ÿฆ–

Why?

The Charity Preview is held in aid of the Royal Windsor Rose & Horticultural Societyโ€™s Nature Studies Programme, launched earlier this year to support local primary schools.

The programme, delivered by horticultural experts .boots, provides year-round education in gardening, nature, and bushcraft skills, helping children build a lasting connection with the natural environment.

As the Societyโ€™s largest annual event, the Royal Windsor Flower Show plays a vital role in funding its community and educational initiatives.
