Subtle change ✨

Client left their car in gear and drove into this old "Essati/ Rolling Door Concepts" roller garage door.

These doors were ridiculously cheap and of very poor quality but they absolutely smashed it back in the day so there is thousands of them out there.

Majority of garage door "engineers" in this instance will try telling you it needs a new door and in some cases, we would say the same but common sense must always prevail!

In this case we were able to source the correct replacement parts and swap out the slats utilising everything else.

Security locking system was upgraded as well as a stronger bottom bar.

We also gave the door a service and got it back up and running for less than half the price of a new door 💰

Very confident in saying that when it comes to Roller Garage Doors around North & Mid Wales we excel.

No caricatures here! Just Mike Roco Doors happy with another Teckentrup UK LTD garage door - Centre ribbed style in smooth anthracite finish complete with a LiftMaster UK motor operator and boom 🙂

This was fitted in today and the client picked a great style which we think goes very nice with their property.

Sunnier days flash-back of an installation of 2no. ROCO RollGuard 77 insulated aluminium roller garage doors in North Wales.

Very happy with the finish on this job.

Could have added motors to the existing up and over doors but this would have put more tracks and hangers inside the garage headspace.

So the client went for these fully automatic roller garage doors - they also opted for the ROCO RollSmart system which offers safe and effortless electric operation by the push of a button or remote control.

Contraflow now in operation so no diversion, traffic in both directions and quite clear at 6am Friday 20th June

Recent installation of a side hinged garage door in Malltraeth, Anglesey North Wales.

Dual point locking, vision windows, hold open door stays and a classic panel design.

We also trimmed above with some pvc to tie in with the existing.

And refixed the Ring camera for the client 🙂

Ending the week with this little ROCO TM75 Shop front security roller shutter door in Bangor, Gwynedd.

Big thanks to Rollwright for the quick turnaround on the laths 🛻💨.

Also thanks to Menai Powder Coating for a quality job on the powder coating.

And finally thanks to S C Obertelli Steels for sorting the white coloured sheets for the cover box on short notice.

This whole door was measured, made and fitted within 6 working days (including powder coating) due to a break-in attempt.

It's been a weird week with a big variety of different works - was nice to do some bread and butter shutters!

🥳 JOB COMPLETE ✅

Installation of a pair of Teckentrup UK LTD side hinged insulated garage doors in today.

Customer opted for a horizontal centre ribbed style in black with black handle.

These doors feature multi point locking system, heavy duty hold open stays and frosted glazing elements to let in some natural light (see pictures for more details).

Although we didn't do the front door and it's a different manufacturer, we don't think they're a bad match 🙂

Recent installation of a ROCO TM75 single skin galvanised steel roller shutter door for this busy metal processing plant in Gaerwen Ynys Môn.

✔️ Heavy gauge galvanised steel laths.
✔️ External key switch and internal push button switch running on a LVC for user safety.
✔️ Anti-drop safety brake device wired into the LVC for motor protection.
✔️ Colour matched coil casing in Juniper Green, primer painted steel framework and enamel painted roller barrel.
✔️ High visibility stickers on tracks and bottom rail to help machinery drivers.

Due to manufacturing delays we upgraded this customer to ROCO TuffSpec. We offer this on externally fixed roller shutters. It means that when the door is closed, the fixing bolts or the track bolts cannot be smashed off or undone.

Have you got a roller shutter with a key switch like this?

You could be putting yourself or anyone that uses it at risk of an electric shock!

Some routine maintenance on this busy goods door in Holyhead brought up this potentially fatal hazard.

Old roller shutter doors were often wired directly into the mains meaning that key switches like this had 240v running through them.

It's always been the norm that these switches are earthed (often from within the switch itself) meaning that if there is an electrical fault (usually because of wet inards) then the user doesn't become the quickest route to earth ⚡.

This wasn't the case here however as the earth strand from the switch wasn't even being used - had there been a fault the person on the end of the switch would have been "buzzed".

The none ip-rated junction box also showed signs of corrosion as well as exposed terminal / choc-blocks extending the motor cables, so it was only a matter of time!

Luckily, our client called us in and we installed a Low Voltage Controller which steps down the voltage at the switch as well as providing an IP rated enclosure for all cabling to be run through.

This included wiring in the anti-drop safety brake device to protect the motor should the brake ever activate.
