šŸ‚ Autumn is a magical time! The stunning colours of Acer, Beech, and Oak trees, red squirrels gathering nuts, and birds feasting on berries make woodland walks a true delight. 🌰🐦

The cool air and earthy aroma of fallen leaves remind us that summer has faded—but there’s beauty even in this quieter season. šŸ

It’s also the perfect time to start planning next year’s garden displays! Spring bulbs not only add colour but are an early source of food for bees šŸŒ·šŸā€”and the very first flowers give us hope, a gentle reminder that brighter days are on the way after the darker winter months. ā˜€ļøšŸ’›

Transforming this space has been very rewarding and I've loved every second. I have increased the growing space dramatically and been able to divide it up to increase access and organisation. The potatoes rows look quite good if I do say so myself! šŸ˜‚

I love this time of year on the allotment, so many colours, smells and the sound of the bumble bees buzzing away! The blue and white shades of the borage and ox eye daisy, have now given over to the golden shades of the rudbeckia, pot marigold and bronze fennel. The sunflowers are in full swing! There is a 10 ft one that I am still waiting on! (How it has survived Anglesey's winds I don't know??)

About 90% of the plants in my allotment start life as tiny seeds in my (equally tiny) greenhouse. There’s just something magical about watching a little seed turn into a full-grown plant—it never gets old. Seed planting is genuinely one of my favourite parts of gardening… right up there with w**ding (yep, I know that’s a bit weird) and the joy of clearing overgrown spaces. Few things beat a good before-and-after transformation—it’s like a makeover show, but for soil.

I’ve had a garden for years, and the allotment for two, so I’ve clocked up plenty of experience across all sorts of gardening jobs. I’m well-versed in pruning fruit trees like plums, gooseberries, blueberries, blackcurrants, and three lovely apple trees that I’m lucky enough to have on the plot. I’ve also got a strong plant knowledge base—everything from wildflowers to cultivated perennials—and flower bed design and maintenance to prove it. There's even a dedicated herb bed if you're into adding a bit of homegrown zing to your cooking.

I also understand the importance of good soil health—from recognising what type of soil you’ve
got to knowing how to improve it with the right mulching techniques. Your plants will thank you, and so will the worms (they’re the real MVPs, after all).

If there’s ever something I don’t know, you can bet I’ll happily dive into some gardening research—partly because I love learning, and partly because I want your garden to look its absolute best.

And to keep sharpening my skills, I’ll soon be starting the RHS Level 2 qualification. Watch this space!

The Corn flower - Once considered a w**d and common in UK cornfields, they’re now a symbol of wildflower revival. Confined to gardens by those that choose to plant them from seed, these beautiful flowers are perfect for pollinators and are stunning in borders!

They seem to be thriving in the allotment this year! The prolonged spells of sunshine has worked in their favour!

These are the allotment salad beds, with lots of companion planting to deter pests and attract pollinators. It has worked really well this year!

The Nasturtiums have been planted all over the allotment they've provided a feast for the cabbage white caterpillars and they've left the brassicas alone! I can't keep up with the purple sprouting broccoli, I'm having to give it away!

(The Nasturtiums are all from last years seed dropping! If you arent keen on them spreading like wild fire I'd suggest picking off the seed pods before they drop)

I'll be planting some more seeds today, there is some space for more radishes and beetroot!

You can also see one of two sweetcorn beds, in the background, they are no long off ready!

Looking through old pictures (2021) and I found this photo of my new build DIY transformation.

When I moved I lost my large cottage garden which was really hard. Creating an outdoor space was one of my first priorities! We turned this around in just a few weeks. It was a tough one It gets no light, the ground is waterlogged (typical new build) and the only access is through the house!

This is a pic of before and after. I've since let the plants get a bit wild as the allotment has taken over but the birds and bees love it!

Hi, I’m Sarah, the proud founder of Gardening Gal – a friendly, experienced gardening service based here on beautiful Anglesey.

This little business grew out of my love for plants, wildlife, and the peaceful joy I find in my allotment plot. Over the years, my allotment has become more than just a space to grow veg – it’s taught me the value of patience, care, and how a bit of regular attention (and a lot of w**ding!) can transform even the wildest patch into something special.

At Gardening Gal, I offer a range of down-to-earth services to help keep your outdoor spaces looking their best – including w**ding, pruning, lawn mowing, border care, general garden tidy-ups, and wildlife-friendly planting. Whether you’re after a one-off spruce-up or ongoing maintenance, I bring a reliable, thoughtful touch to every garden I visit.
If you’d love to spend more time enjoying your garden and less time worrying about it, I’d be happy to help!

Thank you so much for stopping by – feel free to follow along, share the page, or message me any time. I’m always happy to chat about gardens, bees, or your favourite plant.
