πŸ“ North Knapdale & Tayvallich

Caroline Hunter creates seascapes and still lifes with a serene, contemplative presence. Known for her use of muted tones and soft light, her paintings capture the subtle beauty of Argyll’s landscapes, winter seas at dusk, mussel shells, birchwoods, and porcelain birds.

Originally from Orkney, Caroline studied History of Art at Aberdeen and began painting in the early 90s. A regular contributor and prize-winner at the RGI and RSA, her work is held in private collections across the UK.

Visitors to her Tayvallich studio during Open Studios can expect an intimate, atmospheric experience of her latest work, reflections of wild coasts and quiet moments.

🎨 ARTIST Q&A SPOTLIGHT: Caroline Hunter – Studio 34πŸ”΄

Well known for her understated, yet powerful, slightly mesmerizing seascapes, and equally arresting still-life's, Caroline's work is characterised by a contemplative, slightly time-less quality running through it.

Barnacle-encrusted mussel shells, a porcelain bird, racing cloud shadows and winter seas at dusk are expressed in the muted, vibrant tones of Argyll's light and landscape.

Caroline's childhood was spent in Orkney, leaving in 1982 to study History of Art at Aberdeen University. Painting and exhibiting professionally since 1994, she has been a contributor and prize-winner at the RGI and RSA.

Now based in Tayvallich, her studio is embedded in a landscape which continues to inspire, not only what she see's, but what is sensed in Argyll's unique terrain.
