New project in Italy, next to Switzerland borders. Located next to Monte Poncione , Varese province, new roof and new layout to achieve two flats within a listed building . As you can see, rules in Italy about listed buildings are much softer compared to the UK, where you can not even touch a brick of a standard grade 2 listed building in most of the occasions. That may condemn an old building to its civil death or uselessness .

Hi all Londoners living in a Victorian house … would you realise what are you surrounded by behind plasterboards and paint ? There is a world beyond . This townhouse hard refurbishment in Fulham conservation area is an example… everything looks so light, even the new steels… we are going to drop the existing g floors to gain some headroom in the loft level.

There are many factors that can have an impact on restoration works of Victorian buildings. The most important and certain factor is the Unknown. Maintenance of such pieces of art is entangling and the best way to deal with it is to have patience and uncover the Unknown before taking final decisions.

Do you know what you may find beneath an old Victorian building ? Here is the answer. In Sw1w, they built timber boards on top of rafters, they applied (I think more recently) a bituminous membrane (now completely gone) - on timber battens (awfully rotten) on ceramic tiles (many of them are now cracked). So let’s start the works , we are good to go .
