I have been a curtain maker for 30 years, and have been a business for 20 of those years. I started to work at the age of 16 for a company that dealt with top name designers. I learnt the craft of curtain making where money was no object, and everyone excelled in creativity. Years later, I became employed to a company that dealt with government office buildings. Their mainstay work was the anti-bl

ast curtains, that you can still see in some of the older civil service buildings today. I was also pleased that their contracts included curtains that were hung in the House of Commons & House of Lords. With quality work and contract work experience, I never really got to see my work hung. As an employee your responsibility was over once the work left your table. I became, nervously self-employed, through the coaxing of my friends, and stepped forth into the world where I met the people I made Soft Furnishings for (some were designers). Listening to people, creating and visualising their idea's is a certain art. I place a lot of heart into understanding people's likes and dislikes. And I do help people decide on how they design their own home
My experience has been gained from my customers, and my experience with designers too. I have worked with the most professional track fitters and this too ensures not just quality and safety. Bespoke or Made to Measure can intimidate people as to cost. Yet when an item has been made to a fitted standard, you will always know and feel the difference in your home. I offer a Free Measurement and Estimation Service. I have saved my customers money when dealing with fabric as I don't over order as does happen when you buy from major Fabric retailers with Curtain Making Services. I am also good with working within your budget, although never going down hill on quality. I have in my photo album curtains made from the Top Design Houses and from budget fabrics! I take pride that the techniques I was taught all those years ago

The use of Blackout linings as well as Interlinings will make your home feel warmer (or cooler!) and very much quieter in the din that we hear in inner city London.

Calling out for work, and have been thrown into alterations. 10 year Laura Ashley silk curtains. The sun has destroyed the front edges leaving them with a shredded look. No problem. A nice contrast panel and the look is brand new.

I also made good to get as much of the floor length back as well as tidy up the hems to stop the customer catching her foot in them as she walked past.
Puddled curtain should be all tidied at the bottom as to have a different style of finish than floor length curtains.

Loose cover mode in Romo Linara,
The client asked me to wash as to pre-shrink. And it did shrink quite a lot. (5-10%)

I discovered a quick way to iron the creases out, by using the extension lead AND 2 irons.

A headboard cover made with Malabar stripe. Elinorā€™s eye for detail and colour made this an extremely interesting job to work with her client. There was enough fabric over to squeeze another pair of cushions. I had to have a second go on the pattern matching for the headboard cover as the stripes overstretched and became wavy. The end results are always satisfying when you take responsibility to make sure that it is done right!

This is my sonā€™s cat thinking his fur is camouflaged to blend in with a Malabar headboard cover I was making!!!! He was forgiven as he did make me laugh!

Very bold and bright cushions plenty of bling and softened with a Designers Build contrast.
Bespoke and made by catching tigers to put into each cushion. Sometimes you donā€™t know what you are going to catch, itā€™s a bit like fishing! With only a small piece of fabric to work from I was able to catch 6 tigers to make 6 cushions.
