Green is always a great color for any space, but the shade you choose makes all the difference. For a living room, there’s no shade better than olive! Olive green is a gorgeous color that really brightens up a space, but also keeps things cozy and sophisticated. It’s unique in the sense that it’s quite vibrant, but still has that warm, cozy feeling.

𝘽𝙍𝙄𝙂𝙃𝙏𝙀𝙉 𝙔𝙊𝙐𝙍 𝙇𝙄𝙑𝙄𝙉𝙂 𝙍𝙊𝙊𝙈 𝙒𝙄𝙏𝙃 𝘼𝙉 𝙊𝙇𝙄𝙑𝙀 𝙂𝙍𝙀𝙀𝙉 𝙋𝘼𝙄𝙉𝙏 𝘾𝙊𝙇𝙊𝙍
If you typically go for neutral colored walls, painting them a brighter shade of green might seem a little intense. But what makes green so special is that even though it’s a color statement, it can also act as a neutral. This means you have a ton of great options when it comes to choosing which colors to add into your olive green living room.

𝙊𝙇𝙄𝙑𝙀 𝙂𝙍𝙀𝙀𝙉 𝘼𝘾𝘾𝙀𝙉𝙏 𝙒𝘼𝙇𝙇𝙎
If you’re not quite ready for an all olive space, that’s okay! You can still give your living room a splash of color by going with an olive green accent wall. Look around your room and decide which wall you want to be the focal point when you walk into the space—that’s the one you want to paint as your accent wall. In most cases, you’ll want to keep the other walls a softer neutral color, like beige, creamy white, or brown.

𝙒𝙃𝘼𝙏 𝘾𝙊𝙇𝙊𝙍𝙎 𝙂𝙊 𝙒𝙀𝙇𝙇 𝙒𝙄𝙏𝙃 𝙊𝙇𝙄𝙑𝙀 𝙂𝙍𝙀𝙀𝙉 𝙒𝘼𝙇𝙇𝙎?
Green pairs really well with both warm and cool tones, which makes it quite versatile. Olive green does this particularly well, thanks to its earthy quality. If you’re ready to make a bold statement, go for a shade of light olive green as an allover wall color in your living room. The color palette you choose really depends on the feeling you want to bring out in the room.

𝘾𝙊𝙕𝙔 𝘼𝙉𝘿 𝙎𝙊𝙁𝙏 𝙉𝙀𝙐𝙏𝙍𝘼𝙇 𝘾𝙊𝙇𝙊𝙍𝙎
When paired with beige, brown, cream, and natural wood tones, olive green gives your room a chic, modern vibe. This color scheme works particularly well with mid-century modern design. Mix in lots of natural elements to create a balanced, sophisticated look that still feels comfortable and cozy.

𝙃𝙄𝙂𝙃 𝘿𝙍𝘼𝙈𝘼 𝙒𝙄𝙏𝙃 𝘿𝘼𝙍𝙆 𝘾𝙊𝙇𝙊𝙍𝙎
If you want a little more drama in your living room, you definitely don’t have to stick to soft neutrals. Olive green and black pair beautifully together to create a more moody feeling in the space. If black feels a bit too heavy for your room, try pairing olive with navy blue or a deep purple color. These rich colors create an ultra-sleek look for a formal living room that is sure to spark lively conversation amongst your guests.

𝙆𝙀𝙀𝙋 𝙄𝙏 𝘾𝙇𝘼𝙎𝙎𝙄𝘾 𝙒𝙄𝙏𝙃 𝙒𝙃𝙄𝙏𝙀
Another classic option is to keep things simple and pair your olive green walls with crisp white. This allows the green to really stand out and keeps the space light and airy. Allover olive walls look great when paired with white trim and white tables, shelving, and decorative accents. Add in a plush sofa in a neutral color like soft brown or gray and you’ve got a room that feels like a fresh spring day.

𝐇𝐎𝐖 𝐓𝐎 𝐔𝐒𝐄 𝐋𝐄𝐌𝐎𝐍 𝐘𝐄𝐋𝐋𝐎𝐖 𝐈𝐍 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐇𝐎𝐌𝐄
We all want spaces that feel sunny, bright, and warm in our homes. This becomes especially important when we find ourselves in the middle of winter, with the shorter days leaving us wanting more sunshine in our lives. While we can’t control the weather (or the way time works) we can easily create spaces that mimic that same sunshiney vibe. How? By incorporating a little Lemon Yellow into our lives!

Lemon yellow isn’t what you would call a subtle color—it’s ideal for rooms that you want to feel lively and energetic. We like the idea of using it in spaces that encourage conversation and interaction, like the gathering spaces in your home. Think living rooms, kitchens, and dining rooms. Since it’s so bright, it can be a bit too stimulating for a bedroom space. In any space that’s meant to be more relaxing, you may want to consider using it as an accent color.

This bright shade instantly warms up a room, which makes it a perfect choice for spaces that tend to feel a bit dark, especially in winter. A hint of lemon can make you feel like you’re sitting in a sunshine-filled room, even on the darkest day!

Since it’s so bright, it might seem like you’re limited in your choice of color palette, but that’s not the case! Yellow is actually quite versatile and pairs well with a variety of different colors.

For a truly classic look, nothing works quite like crisp white. If you’re doing a lemon yellow wall, go with white accents on the trim and in larger pieces of furniture like bookshelves or tables.

Shades of gray also work beautifully with this shade of yellow—it creates a more modern look. A gray sofa would look amazing in a living room done up in yellow and white. As for the shade, both dark and light grays work really well with bright yellow.

If you want to bring more color into your space, blue is always a great choice. Darker blues like navy help to tone down the intensity of the yellow, while a bright shade of cobalt can really pop when paired with yellow.

Purple sits opposite yellow on the color wheel, which makes it a cool choice to add to your yellow palette. While both colors are quite bright, they balance each other out and create a super fun contrast, especially if you choose a more muted purple. Just make sure you don’t use too much of both colors at the same time. Choose one as a dominant color and use the other as an accent.

Painting your home’s interior can be a big job, especially if you decide to do it all at once. Naturally, people have lots of questions about it. Namely, how often should you repaint your home?

Well, there isn’t one official answer. There are many factors to consider, such as wear and tear, how often the rooms are used, and what they’re used for. Each room is a little different—high traffic areas will probably need to be painted more often, while others can go for years before they need to be redone. Of course, sometimes it will be entirely driven by decor choices—you might want to update certain rooms more often than others.

𝙃𝙊𝙒 𝙊𝙁𝙏𝙀𝙉 𝙎𝙃𝙊𝙐𝙇𝘿 𝙔𝙊𝙐 𝙋𝘼𝙄𝙉𝙏 𝙄𝙉𝙏𝙀𝙍𝙄𝙊𝙍 𝙍𝙊𝙊𝙈𝙎?
It varies from room to room, but when done with the proper paint and prep work, a paint job can often last from 5 to 10 years. However, the most “lived in” spaces will require more frequent paint updates.

𝘽𝙀𝘿𝙍𝙊𝙊𝙈𝙎
Most adult bedrooms won’t need to be painted as often since they aren’t typically the most used rooms in the home. They aren’t high-traffic areas, which means people aren’t regularly touching the walls or bumping into them every day. Because of this, paint jobs can typically last 5 years or more in the average bedroom.

Children’s rooms are a different story. They face a lot more action since they often function as playrooms for more than just one child. With all the activity going on, the walls are more likely to get dirty or damaged during playtime. In a kids room, you’ll want to go with a highly durable finish to ensure the paint lasts as long as possible, such as eggshell or even a pearl/satin sheen finish. Even with a durable paint, the walls will need to be washed more frequently, which means you may need to paint again in 3-4 years or possibly sooner.

𝙇𝙄𝙑𝙄𝙉𝙂 𝙍𝙊𝙊𝙈 𝘼𝙉𝘿 𝘿𝙄𝙉𝙄𝙉𝙂 𝙍𝙊𝙊𝙈
A formal living room or dining room doesn’t usually get used very often, so the paint tends to last a little longer than in other rooms. These rooms also tend to have more furniture, which naturally acts as a buffer and stops people from touching the walls. For these spaces, it’s more likely that you’ll be repainting because you feel like it’s time to change up the look of your space, as opposed to repainting to combat wear and tear. On average, these spaces can go anywhere from 5-7 years, or possibly longer.

𝙆𝙄𝙏𝘾𝙃𝙀𝙉
They say the kitchen is the heart of a home and as such, they tend to be very busy spaces. Because of everything that goes on in a kitchen, they face lots of wear and tear. There are always people hanging out in the kitchen, which means they’re likely bumping into and touching the walls more often than in other rooms.

Kitchen walls also tend to get dirty more easily—cooking splatters, grease, and food prep often mean you have to wash the walls more often, which can have an effect on how long your paint lasts. Even if you use the most durable paint finishes available, kitchens will need to be painted more often than other rooms in your home. On average, they should be repainted every 3-4 years.

𝘽𝘼𝙏𝙃𝙍𝙊𝙊𝙈𝙎
Bathrooms are also rooms that are used quite frequently. Again, you’re likely to have people touching the walls a little more often, especially in a smaller bathroom or powder room. However, the main issue in bathrooms is humidity and moisture, which can impact the longevity of your paint. You’ll usually need to repaint every 3-4 years in bathrooms and other high-humidity areas like laundry rooms.

What’s more comforting than a hot cup of coffee on a chilly morning? This color is inspired by the warm and comforting color of our favorite morning beverage—the mixture of a deep, dark coffee and chocolate with frothy steamed milk. The result is mocha, a lighter shade of brown that just makes you feel warm and cozy all over. It’s the kind of color that makes you want to slow down and savor the small moments in everyday life.

Mocha is a classic neutral color that is perfect for any space. The lighter shade of brown makes a room feel warm and cozy without being too heavy. Mocha ranges from light- to medium-brown and pairs well with a wide range of colors. It’s a remarkably versatile color that suits just about any room in your home.

𝙒𝙃𝘼𝙏 𝘾𝙊𝙇𝙊𝙍𝙎 𝙂𝙊 𝙒𝙄𝙏𝙃 𝙈𝙊𝘾𝙃𝘼 𝘽𝙍𝙊𝙒𝙉 𝙋𝘼𝙄𝙉𝙏 𝘾𝙊𝙇𝙊𝙍?
Mocha is one of the most versatile paint colors out there. Of course, the classic combination is mocha and cream. Creamy white is the perfect color for trim, furniture, and other accents. This mix creates a calm and comforting space that feels familiar and sticks to a more classic vibe. Choose a white with a warmer base to play up that cozy feeling, or go with a crisp white to create some more contrast.

If you want to inject some more color into your space, softer colors like blush pink, light peach, creamy yellow, and beige help to bring even more warmth into your room. Or you can look at the other side of things with cool colors like sage green, light powder blue, dove gray, and turquoise to create a more balanced palette. If high-drama looks are more your style, try contrasting mocha walls with darker shades of brown, with dark wood furniture and accents.

𝘾𝙍𝙀𝘼𝙏𝙀 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙋𝙀𝙍𝙁𝙀𝘾𝙏 𝙈𝙊𝘾𝙃𝘼 𝙍𝙊𝙊𝙈
Because it’s a neutral tone with a range of shades, mocha is an incredibly versatile color that can be used in pretty much any room in your home. When choosing your perfect mocha look, think about how you want to feel when you’re in the space. Do you want it to feel more edgy and design-forward, or are you after a cozy, lived-in vibe?
Darker shades of mocha are perfect for a living room. When paired with dark wood accents and rich, dark colors it creates a sophisticated look for a formal living room or dining room. A lighter shade of mocha paired with creamy white, beige, and warm colors creates a comfy, cozy feel for a family room or casual living room.

For a bedroom, a lighter mocha tone paired with pastel colors like blush pink, minty green, or light blue, and cream accents creates a relaxing spa-like atmosphere where you can truly feel calm and collected. A similar color scheme would also be perfect in a bathroom, paired with light wood accents.

If you’re feeling inspired and are ready to add a splash of mocha paint into your home, we would love to help you out. Book your free estimate today!

Once you’ve got gorgeous freshly painted walls, you’ll want to keep them looking that way. When you dust the walls with a microfiber dusting cloth or use a soft-bristled vacuum attachment, you’ll remove dust and dirt and prevent build up over time. However, you’ll probably want to give your walls a good wipe down at least once or twice a year.

𝙃𝙊𝙒 𝙎𝙃𝙊𝙐𝙇𝘿 𝙄 𝙒𝘼𝙎𝙃 𝙈𝙔 𝙒𝘼𝙇𝙇𝙎?
A simple solution of vinegar and water is great for washing your walls as part of regular maintenance. When you wipe down your walls, make sure you wring out your sponge or cloth very well before you wipe—you don’t want any excess water to drip down. You should also avoid using scrubbers, as these can leave scratches or marks on your walls. Stick to soft sponges or cloths when you wipe down your walls.

𝙃𝙊𝙒 𝙏𝙊 𝙍𝙀𝙈𝙊𝙑𝙀 𝙎𝙏𝘼𝙄𝙉𝙎 𝙁𝙍𝙊𝙈 𝙒𝘼𝙇𝙇𝙎
If a stain or mark on the wall doesn’t come off with your vinegar and water solution or with soap and water, a cleaning eraser may be the answer. These special sponges are perfect for spot cleaning and can work wonders on stains of any type. Be sure to test it out on a small spot on your wall before you scrub a larger area. Be careful not to scrub too hard, or you could end up making the stain worse.

If you need something a little stronger to clean your walls, consider the type of paint before you apply anything. If you have latex paint on your walls, you should avoid any harsh chemicals, as some chemical cleaners can damage paint finishes. Oil-based paint should be fine with some chemical cleaners, as it’s a sturdier paint.

However, some specific kinds of stains are trickier to deal with than others. These might require special techniques to remove.

𝙃𝙊𝙒 𝙏𝙊 𝙍𝙀𝙈𝙊𝙑𝙀 𝙊𝙄𝙇/𝙂𝙍𝙀𝘼𝙎𝙀 𝙎𝙏𝘼𝙄𝙉𝙎 𝙁𝙍𝙊𝙈 𝙒𝘼𝙇𝙇𝙎
It sounds simple, but when dealing with oil or grease stains, the first step should be dish soap and water. Dish soap is designed to cut through grease but is still gentle enough on paint to keep walls safe. For extra tough stains, a special wall cleaner can be used. But before you spray anything on the walls, make sure it’s compatible with the type of paint on your walls. If you’re unsure, do a small test spot before you clean the whole wall.

𝙃𝙊𝙒 𝙏𝙊 𝙍𝙀𝙈𝙊𝙑𝙀 𝘾𝙊𝙁𝙁𝙀𝙀 𝙎𝙏𝘼𝙄𝙉𝙎 𝙁𝙍𝙊𝙈 𝙋𝘼𝙄𝙉𝙏𝙀𝘿 𝙒𝘼𝙇𝙇𝙎
Most coffee stains should come out with just a gentle cleanser, such as dish soap or an all-purpose cleaner. The trick for coffee stains is to apply the cleaner with a soft-bristle brush. Be sure to work gently—if you use too much pressure you could leave marks behind on your wall. Next, wipe off the surface with a damp cloth and allow to dry.

𝙃𝙊𝙒 𝙏𝙊 𝙍𝙀𝙈𝙊𝙑𝙀 𝙎𝙏𝙄𝘾𝙆𝙀𝙍𝙎 𝙁𝙍𝙊𝙈 𝙋𝘼𝙄𝙉𝙏𝙀𝘿 𝙒𝘼𝙇𝙇𝙎
Kids love stickers and really love sticking them on every surface possible. Once they’ve been stuck to a wall, they can be touch to remove without causing damage to the paint. It may take a few steps, but it can be done! First, gently try to peel it off; start at one corner and work your way around when you hit a spot that doesn’t easily lift off. If there are still parts of the sticker left on the wall, use a hair dryer on the low or medium setting to heat the glue. This should make it easier to get the rest of the sticker off. Vinegar can also help to remove adhesive residue—fold a paper towel and wet it with white vinegar, then hold over the sticker spot for a minute or so. It should loosen the adhesive and allow it to wipe off.

𝙃𝙊𝙒 𝙏𝙊 𝙍𝙀𝙈𝙊𝙑𝙀 𝙋𝙀𝙉𝘾𝙄𝙇 𝙈𝘼𝙍𝙆𝙎 𝙁𝙍𝙊𝙈 𝘼 𝙋𝘼𝙄𝙉𝙏𝙀𝘿 𝙒𝘼𝙇𝙇
f you notice pencil marks on your wall, the first step is easy—simply try to erase it with a pencil eraser or art gum eraser. If this doesn’t work, rub the spot gently with a cleaning eraser sponge. For extra stubborn marks, dip the corner of a damp cloth in baking soda, then gently rub it along the mark. Repeat as needed and then wipe the baking soda off with a clean damp cloth.

If you have an extremely stubborn stain that won’t come off, you may have to paint over it. Depending on the condition of the paint on the walls, you may be able to get away with just a quick touchup of the spot. However, you might also find that it’s better to just repaint the entire wall. If you have a wall stain that you need to paint over, we’re happy to take a look at it for you. Book your free estimate today!

𝐒𝐖𝐄𝐄𝐓𝐄𝐍 𝐔𝐏 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐒𝐏𝐀𝐂𝐄 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐀 𝐑𝐎𝐒𝐄 𝐏𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐓 𝐂𝐎𝐋𝐎𝐑

There’s a reason we use the term ‘rosy’ to describe a positive situation—the color rose just makes people happy! If you want to bring some upbeat, happy vibes into your home, look no further than rose.

𝙃𝙊𝙒 𝙏𝙊 𝘿𝙀𝘾𝙊𝙍𝘼𝙏𝙀 𝙒𝙄𝙏𝙃 𝙍𝙊𝙎𝙀 𝙋𝙄𝙉𝙆
Rose is a softer shade of pink, which makes it a great allover wall color. It works beautifully as an accent wall or for an entire room. Wondering how to bring this gorgeous shade into your home?

To create a warm and inviting entryway, try pairing rosy pink walls with crisp white accents.

For a larger space like a living room, strike an ideal balance of feminine and masculine by pairing rose walls with mid-century modern furniture in shades of dark wood, gray, and cooler neutrals.

If rose pink walls are a bit too much, you can also use rose as an accent color to bring warmth into a space with neutral walls. Rose furniture, artwork, pillows, and accents work particularly well when paired with soft gray, white, and warm hints of gold.

𝘽𝙍𝙄𝙂𝙃𝙏𝙀𝙉 𝙔𝙊𝙐𝙍 𝙀𝙓𝙏𝙀𝙍𝙄𝙊𝙍 𝙒𝙄𝙏𝙃 𝘼 𝙍𝙊𝙎𝙀 𝙋𝘼𝙄𝙉𝙏 𝘾𝙊𝙇𝙊𝙍
For most homes, you’ll want to stick to more subtle rose accents for your exterior. A rose pink door is a great way to add some color to your home’s exterior. You can also bring rose accents through outdoor furniture and accessories. If you’re really feeling the rosy vibes, you can go for an allover pink exterior. (This look is particularly suited to heritage homes.)

𝙍𝙊𝙎𝙀 𝘾𝙊𝙇𝙊𝙍 𝙋𝘼𝙇𝙀𝙏𝙏𝙀𝙎
Need a little inspiration for the perfect palette to go with rose? Since rose can tend to be a bit bright, it’s important to make sure you balance things out. A dusty rose color pairs well with shades of cooler light gray and white. If you want a bolder look, rose also pairs well with soft greens, taupe, warm browns, and reddish brown tones.

If you’re after a stronger pink statement, a gradient color palette is a great option. We recommend going with a creamy white, a blush white, light dusty rose, and a classic rosy pink.

After you’ve moved into a new home and are finally done with tackling all your moving tasks, you just want to relax. There’s definitely time to let yourself rest after all that work, but before you can truly get settled in, there’s still some work to do! Before you unpack everything, it’s time to think about which colors to paint your new space. This is a question that everyone comes across at one point or another in their lives, and yet it remains equally daunting every single time.

It’s natural to be a bit nervous about choosing a color. After all, there’s a lot of time, money, and effort that goes into repainting a home, so you want to make sure you get it right! In this article, we will focus on seven interior color options to change your mood and give yourself a fresh start. The key to choosing a good interior color is to look for colors that can show off the space well and can make your house look bigger and brighter.

Pick up a few tester pots and start painting!

𝑻𝒂𝒖𝒑𝒆

Taupe is an amazing choice for interiors as it has a beautiful neutral side to it. Despite the lightness and neutrality of the shade it still manages to add in a hint of color to your walls. The paint comes with a variety of different shades and undertones, including grey, lavender and brown, which can all give your walls a sophisticated look. Taupe is a timeless and practical color that will make you fall in love with the interior of your house as it adds just a hint of color to your walls.

𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒄𝒐𝒂𝒍 𝑮𝒓𝒂𝒚

If you want something a little more dramatic, charcoal gray is a great option. While many darker colors can make a room feel smaller, charcoal gray helps to create a more intimate space. It is an incredible addition to your interior as it makes the walls seem to disappear and brings in beautiful drama to the room. The charcoal color has just the right amount of warmth in it, which looks amazing on walls. Since it’s a neutral, it looks great with just about any other color, which gives you plenty of options for accent colors.

𝑾𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒚 𝑺𝒌𝒚 (𝑳𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝑩𝒍𝒖𝒆)

This lovely shade of light blue works well as a neutral, while also giving your home a slight hint of color. It is a cool-toned shade that helps you make a subtle statement and does not overpower the space. This color creates a sense of calmness and serenity to your room and it also pairs well with many other wall colors. Pair it with a palette of soft pastels to create a soothing space to relax in.

𝑳𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒚

Light grey is a great choice to showcase your home’s features, as it is a cool color. Grey is a great alternative to beige, with a modern flair. The color has cool tones that contribute to creating a calming and soothing atmosphere that can also make the room look bright and more open. For a modern monochromatic look, light and pale grey shades work seamlessly together in an open living space. It’s a versatile color that adds drama to your walls especially when it is coupled with black or white.

𝑾𝒉𝒊𝒕𝒆

If you plan on going all white, choose something that has cool undertones. We do not suggest making use of a stark, bright white, as this can tend to feel too clinical for a house. Instead, use of soft cream shades along with slight grey or blue undertones. White is known as the color of natural beauty and purity, which makes it a great choice for a simple, minimalist look. Add some colorful accents with your white walls to give your house a more modern and dramatic look.

Exotic Red

Exotic red is a rich and deep, complex paint that adds in beauty and drama to your house. When it is paired with a crisp white, it pops out and looks ultra modern. If you want to bring some energy to your house, then this is the color you need. It’s definitely a bold choice, but we’re sure you will fall in love with the look of your room once you bring in some exotic red.

When you move into a new home, a new coat of paint is a great way to bring elements of your personality into your new space. It’s smart to invest in painting your house early on, as it gives you a chance to truly make it your own and make sure that it really feels like home. Painting your interior with colors of your choice is an important step, and it requires planning, and it should be taken seriously. New colors will give you a fresh start and make you fall even more in love with the place where you live.

Dark cabinets can create a sleek and sophisticated look in any kitchen. They’re an especially great choice for those who like to have a bit more of a dramatic vibe in their homes. However, you need to be careful when working with dark cabinets, as the look can feel too heavy or overwhelming if not done right. The key to working with dark cabinets is to create balance. You want to either highlight the undertones in the cabinets by pairing them with like colors, or go with a high-contrast look of dark and light or bright. Let’s take a look at some creative color combinations to really make your dark kitchen cabinets stand out.

Add a splash of color
Bright white
Warm Neutral,
Cool Neutrals

𝑨𝑫𝑫 𝑨 𝑺𝑷𝑳𝑨𝑺𝑯 𝑶𝑭 𝑪𝑶𝑳𝑶𝑹
If you’re after a more playful, funky look, why not experiment with bold colors? A bright pop of color really stands out against dark cabinets. However, you don’t necessarily need to put your bright colors on the walls—you could try something a little different by painting a bright kitchen island or using colorful furniture to add that unexpected element. While it’s easy to get excited about using color, try to stick to one or two bright shades and keep the rest of your palette neutral to really round out the space.

𝑩𝑹𝑰𝑮𝑯𝑻 𝑾𝑯𝑰𝑻𝑬
For really dark brown or black cabinets, accenting with bright white creates a modern vibe. It’s a cool, high contrast look is great for modern spaces. If you go with all white walls, or a white backsplash, brighten things up with small pops of color through accessories and appliances. If you want to keep the backsplash and walls on the darker side as well, you can always use white as your accent color. For example, if you have dark cabinets, a dark backsplash, and gray walls, you can bring in white accents through stools, a white kitchen table and chairs, white dishes and bright white decorative accessories. It’s a simple color palette that really stands out and makes a big visual impact.

𝑾𝑨𝑹𝑴 𝑵𝑬𝑼𝑻𝑹𝑨𝑳𝑺
If you have dark wood cabinets, try a color palette that brings out the warmth in the wood. We recommend that you choose lighter neutrals with warm undertones, such as creamy white, beige, taupe, warm-toned grays, linen, or a very soft blush pink. To take this a step further, you can emphasize the warm undertones in your paint color by adding accents in the same color family. For example, if you have creamy white paint on your walls, you would add in some yellow accents, or to amplify a paint color with pinkish undertones, you could add in darker pink accents.

For darker wood cabinets with cool undertones (like espresso or an almost-black shade of brown) you’ll want to stick to cooler toned neutrals. This color family includes shades of blue or lavender-toned gray, dark blue-gray, greige, or even sage green. When you choose a lighter shade that matches the undertones found in your cabinets, it will really open the space up and make it seem brighter. When it comes to accent colors, look for brighter versions of the base color you’re highlighting. For example, gray with blue undertones would do well with a range of blue accents to make things pop.

When you paint a room, you probably only really think about the wall color. But there’s one other part of the room that also needs to get painted: your ceiling. Most people tend to keep things pretty basic when it comes to painting ceilings, but there’s no reason why you can’t get a little more creative. Here’s what you need to know about painting your ceilings.

If you’re painting an entire room, it’s best to work from the top down. That means you should paint the ceiling first. It’s often easier to start with the ceiling since you won’t have to worry about any splatter or potential paint drips messing up freshly painted walls. If it does happen, it’s much easier to fix, since you’re going to paint the walls anyway.

Ceiling paint is much different from wall paint, as it is specifically formulated for ceilings. It’s a higher viscosity paint with more solids in the mix, which means it’s thicker and adheres better. This is so you get fewer drips and splatters during the painting process. It also means you get better coverage—with most ceiling paint, you only need one coat to cover the surface. It’s designed to hide imperfections and create a clean look.

Most ceiling paint has a flat finish and is often times the flattest finish possible. This is because any amount of glossiness in ceiling paint will reflect more light and can end up highlighting any imperfections that you don’t want to be seen. However, it is possible to paint ceilings in a higher gloss finish. Sometimes going for a high-gloss finish on your ceiling can add to the drama of a room, helping to reflect more light from lamps and candles.

Painting a ceiling can be a little awkward to do on your own, even in spaces with lower or regular height ceilings. However, if you happen to have extra tall ceilings, it’s even more difficult. So, if you have higher ceilings, how do you go about painting them?

Before you get to painting, you need to prep the room first. Move as much out of the room as you can, and cover any larger pieces of furniture and all the floors with drop cloths. This will help ensure that any paint splatter doesn’t end up on your floors or furniture. It’s important to note that if you’re also planning on painting your walls, you should paint the ceiling first. This way, if you end up with any drips or splatters on the walls from painting the ceiling, you can cover them up when it’s time to paint the walls.

You’ll also want to make sure you choose the right type of paint. Ceilings don’t get painted as often, so it’s important to use ceiling paint for the job, as it’s specially formulated for ceilings and will make the job much easier. Before you get started, you’re going to need something more than just a few brushes and a standard roller. Exactly what you need is determined by how big your space is and how tall your ceilings are. In most rooms, a ladder is all you need in order to be able to reach the edges and ceilings for painting. However, if you have a really large space, it might require scaffolding. If you don’t already have these items on hand, you can often rent ladders and scaffolding from a hardware store.

You may also want to consider a sprayer, as it can speed up the application in larger rooms. However, sprayers can be expensive, so it might not be an investment you want to make just for one job. If you don’t want to purchase a sprayer, you can simply buy an extra long handle for your rollers. They’re fairly inexpensive and will allow you to apply paint from a greater distance if you can’t get up on a ladder or handle spots that are tough to reach from the ladder.

The method you use to paint your ceilings will largely depend on how tall they are. For ceilings measuring 10 feet and under, a long-handled roller is probably just fine, especially if it’s a smaller room. For anything between 10-18 feet tall, a ladder will definitely be required. If your room is fairly large, it might require scaffolding, which can be challenging to rent and set up, and often takes quite a bit of time. If you have a large space or exceptionally high ceilings, it’s a good idea to look into hiring professional painters. At WOW 1 DAY PAINTING, we’re painting experts and can get your ceiling painted quickly and without all the usual disruption.

Unless your ceiling is quite old or yellowed, you probably don’t need a primer. If you do need a primer coat, it can be applied with a roller on a long handle. If you need to get up on the ladder in order to reach the highest points of the ceiling, you can still use the long handle on the roller to apply the primer, which means you won’t have to climb as high up on the ladder.

In most cases, you can apply your top coat right away, without a primer. If possible, this should be done with a roller or brush while up on the ladder or scaffolding. This will give you much more control than standing on the ground with the long roller. It’s especially important when you’re painting around the edges, as this area involves careful, detailed work to get a clean finish.
