With great pleasure, we announce that SUNGLIDER – a visionary transportation system of the future, co-created by designers from Poland and Germany – has been invited to participate in the international exhibition “Weaving the Future – 2025 Sustainable Design Exhibition”, held at the Tianfu Design Industrial Park in Chengdu, China.
The exhibition focuses on the latest achievements in sustainable design.
The event is organized by the Red Dot Design Museum Xiamen – one of the three prestigious Red Dot museums worldwide, alongside those in Essen (Germany) and Singapore.
The exhibition highlights the transformation of designers from traditional “problem solvers” to “weavers of systems” – social, environmental, and technological. The displays include, among others, furniture made from coffee grounds, shoes made from recycled oyster shells, agricultural support robots, and installations inspired by Sichuan folklore. A special section is dedicated to books and educational projects promoting a sustainable lifestyle.
Among the carefully selected projects from 17 countries and regions is SUNGLIDER – a public transportation system of the future. The design is led by architect Piotr Kuczia, working in both Germany and Poland, supported by a team of researchers and designers from the Faculty of Architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology (Wydział Architektury Politechniki Warszawskiej), under the supervision of assistant professor Ewelina Gawell. The concept originator is Professor Dieter Otten from Osnabrück, Germany.
Based on the concept of zero-emission, sustainable, and integrated urban transport, the SUNGLIDER project has been recognized for its innovative approach to mobility challenges in medium-sized cities.
The exhibition in Chengdu will run until June 28, 2025. Admission is free upon registration via the official WeChat channel. In September, the exhibition will move to the Red Dot Design Museum in Xiamen.
