GLAZED PERSPECTIVE // Designed to be viewed from both the ground floor level and first floor mezzanine through the incredible 6 metre tall glazing, this scheme in North East London focuses on angled geometry to visually connect both spaces. The geometry and level transitions are softened with tiered planting beds filled with deep green structural planting and bronze foliage ferns, which, alongside the earthy tones of the clay pavers, bronze metalwork and limestone paving, helps to create a warm material palette to compliment the styling of the interior design.

Located on a long and sloping site in the Surrey Hills, inspiration is taken from the modern and angular design of the house, deepening the connection between architecture and landscape. We wanted to take this geometry and use it to create defined zones within the garden, but focusing on maintaining a natural flow as you transition between levels. Black-pigmented and textured concrete retaining walls will form the backbone of the scheme, slicing through the slopes to create multiple terraces to entertain, play and relax.

CLASSIC COUNTRYSIDE // Is there anything more beautiful than a quintessentially English Garden in its prime?

A style replicated across the world and steeped in history, the English Garden provides such a beautiful balance between formal and naturalistic; a great opportunity to merge classic principles with contemporary ex*****on.

What’s not to love about the simplicity of a central lawn that has been lovingly striped & manicured and have it surrounded by abundantly planted beds packed full of colour, scent, wildlife and topiary.

This part of the scheme is accessed via a lower dining / lounging terrace complete with outdoor fireplace and kitchen. A perimeter of raised walkways and seating areas provide vistas of the garden and a shady spot to relax under the dappled shade of an avenue of boxhead Carpinus.

PLANNING FOR SUMMER // On a cold and wet Friday morning in London, we were rudely reminded that Autumn and Winter is just around the corner…

Fortunately this also provides the ideal (and exciting) time to plan and undertake a garden transformation ready for those warmer months in Spring and Summer next year.

This early concept proposal to a client in the Surrey Hills is the perfect example of getting ahead and planning for a summer spent poolside in 2021. With incredible views over the rolling hills of the Surrey countryside, the house is set in to a steep slope affording us the opportunity to traverse the terrain with multiple geometric paths and terraces, interconnected with banks of soft grasses and informal planting. As a family that loves to host and entertain, creating large dining, lounging and playing areas was central to the brief, as well as striking a balance between modern & exciting design and being sympathetic to the surrounding natural landscape.

IMAGINATION TO REALISATION // One of the most rewarding aspects of being a design and build company is that we have the privilege to witness a scheme develop from the first flicker of imagination all the way through to a stunning reality.

It is this passion for the journey that is at the core of our company; from the creatives through to construction. We relish the process as much as we cherish the result.

We are proud of our creative talent, the construction skills we offer, our solution-centred suppliers and our trusting clients. Everyone plays such a crucial role in the amazing journey from visualisation to materialisation.

It’s amazing to think that this garden here, designed by .keightley, hasn’t been developed through a lifetime of maturing and refinement. This was a concept developed over a few months and delivered in a few more. A collective effort of creativity, resourcing and practical skill to roll out an “instant garden”.

It’s pretty mind-blowing to think what can be achieved in Landscaping. It’s about surrounding yourself with the right talent and those that share the same vision and passion. It’s about being at your creative best, safe in the knowledge that what is designed can be delivered.
