Work in progress. Super excited about this one — our first pub in Leadenhall Market!

Over the spring, we've been working closely with our client to transform a former restaurant into a new tavern. The brief called for a space rich in atmosphere and character: dark-stained timber, cosy booths, deep claret café curtains, reclaimed floors, and carefully sourced furniture.

Rather than starting from scratch, we've approached the project through the lens of adaptive reuse. Existing bars, seating and furniture have been reimagined and refreshed - circulation reconfigured.

As architects, we're interested in how interiors shape social behaviour. How do you create a sequence of spaces that encourage interaction? Where do people choose to gather, linger and return to? This project has been an exploration of those questions — balancing intimacy and openness to create a space comfortable enough to spend an afternoon in that turns into an evening.

Looking forward to testing the atmosphere ourselves and finding our favourite spot to sit soon!

Here we are in an early design workshop for a new family home in County Cork, gathered around a working physical model to test ideas and shape a home around the way our clients want to live (in an excellent house for a party complete with cold plunge and sauna btw).

Just submitted for planning approval, this new-build home is designed to Passive House standards and shaped by the realities of its setting: the open rural landscape of south-west Ireland and its powerful prevailing westerly winds.

Arranged around a sheltered courtyard, the home creates protected outdoor space while allowing daily life to remain connected to the landscape, changing light and atmosphere. The house settles into the site, creating moments where inside and outside overlap — offering shelter without losing a sense of place.

Simple, carefully considered local materials will support the home’s performance, creating a low-energy, durable family home designed to feel calm, comfortable and deeply rooted in its environment.

Unlocking hidden potential

Over the past year, we’ve been reimagining underused office spaces around an urban square in the Isle of Dogs—transforming them into 20 new homes across three sites.

By converting office use into thoughtfully designed one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, this project responds to the growing demand for housing while creating a more vibrant, balanced community.

A central principle of the project is to optimise our built environment; it reflects our commitment to working with what already exists—treating existing buildings as latent resources. Through thoughtful adaptation, the scheme demonstrates how building less, making well, and maximising existing assets can deliver sustainable, high-quality living environments.

When a home works hard for you, life feels lighter.

Swipe to see how we design for real, everyday life — beautifully.  There's a cute photo of a dog shower at the end!

Good design isn’t just about the big gestures. It’s about the quiet daily wins.

Proof that a warm interior can outshine even the greyest London day!

These images were taken under heavy skies - swipe for external shots showing just how miserable it was!

The larch tones and lime render bring softness, comfort, and calm — a subtle mood-lifter when the weather does its worst.

Expertly shot by who managed to capture the light perfectly.

Matt Whittaker's and .wp 's Welsh School of Architecture, unit 2, Zurich field trip - photo dump.

The pair recently took undergrad students to soak up the city and organised a packed schedule touring some exceptional housing projects alongside visits to several exciting and influential architectural practices.

Thanks so much to
, studio Markli, .van.noten.meister
for opening your doors to us!

A real privilege.

We're feeling energised and motivated - hope the students do too!

On the drawing board — a new home in County Cork, Ireland.

Rooted in landscape and climate, this project creates domestic order within a rugged coastal setting.

Designed to Passivhaus standards, the house is arranged around a sheltered courtyard, offering comfort, resilience, and refuge from prevailing westerly winds.

Architecture shaped by place, performance, and people.

Exciting news - Matt takes a post at the Welsh School of Architecture

After six rewarding years teaching the final-year diploma at the London School of Architecture, Matt decided it was time for a change of scenery and a new set of challenges. This September, he joined the Welsh School of Architecture, where he started teaching a third-year undergraduate design unit alongside Elliot Wang.

Matt notes his time at the London School of Architecture was truly special. He feels very fortunate to have worked with such inspiring colleagues and staff, and to have taught so many talented, energetic students — many of whom are now out in practice doing incredible things. He is proud of what the team achieved at the LSA, and he wishes the school continued success under its new leadership.

At the Welsh School of Architecture, Matt is really enjoying being part of a unit that’s rethinking the idea of the nuclear family home — exploring how housing can better support social exchange and collaboration within communities.  The unit's focus is on rural and semi-rural contexts, and how these places are responding to the pressures of housing demand, remote working, and tourism — all of which shape local identity, land use, and ecology in profound ways.

We'll keep you posted on their experiments!
