The Salisbury Square development provides a unique opportunity to restore the primacy of the historic Salisbury Square and to establish a new public forum where people can meet and interact. It is a new public space bounded by civic buildings and served by a new public house with south-facing terrace. The civic scheme is about connection, the masterplan creates important new pedestrian links, west to the Inns of Court, and east to Wren’s Church of St Bride’s.

Eric Parry Architects Volume 2 continues the critical appraisal of the practice's work, providing an in-depth analysis of projects as diverse as the London Stock Exchange, Wimbledon School of Art and the award-winning renovation and reorganisation of St Martin-in-the-Fields. This second volume in the on-going series of books devoted to the work of EPA, sets out our disparate interests, from a rigorous approach to proportion, materials and space to our intellectual engagement with architectural history and precedent.

Today the whole EPA team is enjoying the annual Christmas Lunch. It's wonderful to be able to use this occasion to enjoy a space we have worked very hard on and to celebrate its completion with the rest of the team. This year we are enjoying our lunch in St John's Waterloo church, where we revealed key elements of the historic interior of the church to create a high-quality space for arts and events within the listed building.

Staircase Saturday!

This time we're looking back at a staircase from our archive. It featured in one of our studio's early projects; the renovation of the Artist's Studio for Antony Gormley and Tom Phillips, which was completed over 30 years ago!

11 Belgrave Road is a great example of how future workplaces will focus on becoming hubs for collaboration and productivity where a greater emphasis is placed on the quality of the space rather than the quantity.

In the words of Landscape designers :
"Projects of this nature provide enviable opportunities to create green, beautifully designed landscaped spaces within a constrained urban environment. People experience the seasons, relax surrounded by nature, no matter how small the scale, and this is proven to be hugely beneficial and restorative to an individual’s mental wellbeing."

Going even further, the gardens will also help boost local biodiversity and support decarbonisation efforts through a mosaic of robust, drought‐tolerant planting that will mature over time and increase the ecology of the site.

Our project at One North Singapore as part of the masterplan incorporates a publicly accessible garden at ground level, creating a direct connection to the adjacent park and to a public plaza, situated in the cool shade of the building.

The gardens have been designed to reflect the lush sub-tropical landscape of Singapore, with special species of plants to encourage butterfly inhabitation and added water features to reduce the heat load through evaporative cooling.

'If Savile Row is a big man in an impeccably tailored, bespoke suit, then the striking infill piece emerging on New Bond Street is an agile youth in a hand-stitched snakeskin jacket.'

Collaborating with furniture maker Hiro Takayanagi, the Cavo table was originally commissioned for the Four Seasons Hotel Spa, Park Lane, London. The table top is constructed using lap joints on the round corners and the gradating grain of the oak changes from dark to light expressing the construction method and materiality. The robustness of oak is a counterpoint to the delicacy of form of the metal work forminy the legs.

This piece adds to a series of ongoing collaborations in craftmenship including ironmongery, glasswork and textiles.
