A little sunshine for your garden ☀️

With the grey skies we've had this week, it's a good reminder of just how much colour can lift a garden.

Marigolds are one of those plants that never fail to brighten a space. Their vibrant yellow, orange and gold flowers bloom for months, attract pollinators, and add instant cheer to pots, borders and containers.

They're easy to grow, incredibly reliable, and perfect for gardeners of all experience levels.

After this week's rain and with sunshine returning for the weekend, we're expecting gardens to burst into life over the coming weeks 🌿🌸

🌧️☀️ Don't be too disappointed by this week's cooler, wetter weather...

After the recent heatwave, this rain is actually one of the best things that could have happened for our gardens 🌿

The warm weather has encouraged lots of growth, but many plants have been crying out for a good, deep soak. This week's rain has helped replenish soil moisture, reduce stress on plants, top up water butts, and give lawns, borders and newly planted containers a much-needed boost.

With warmer, sunnier weather forecast for the weekend, all the ingredients are in place for a real explosion of growth 🌸🌱

Don't be surprised if your garden looks noticeably bigger, greener and more colourful over the next couple of weeks!

We've already spotted fresh growth, new buds and plenty of plants preparing to put on a show.

Looking for an easy midweek meal packed with flavour? Try this simple Spicy Halloumi & Roasted Veg Couscous using fresh ingredients from our greengrocer 🌿

🛒 You'll need:
• 1 medium onion
• 1 bell pepper
• 1 medium potato
• 1 large tomato
• Halloumi
• Couscous
• 1 tbsp chilli powder
• ½ tsp smoked paprika

👩‍🍳 Method:

1️⃣ Dice the onion, pepper and potato and place on a baking tray. Sprinkle with the chilli powder and smoked paprika, drizzle with a little oil and roast at 200°C for 25-30 minutes until golden.

2️⃣ Add the chopped tomato and Halloumi to the tray for the final 10 minutes of cooking.

3️⃣ Prepare the couscous according to the packet instructions and fluff with a fork.

4️⃣ Serve the roast vegetables over the couscous and top with a dollop of yoghurt and a sprinkle of coriander.

5️⃣ Add some cubed chicken fillets to roast vegetables for extra protein, or make it vegan by swapping Hallumi for Chickpeas!

🐦 We made a lovely discovery this week... a nest of robin chicks tucked away safely in one of our sheds! 🥰

At this time of year, many garden birds are busy nesting and raising their young, often in surprising places such as sheds, hanging baskets, garages, hedges and even plant pots.

One of the most important things you can do is simply leave them alone. The parents are usually close by and know exactly what they're doing.
