Personal Portfolio
Since the age of around 10 years old I was able to recognise that I had a great passion for working outdoors and working with plants, as I got older this passion grew to an obsession always wanting to know the names of every plant I came across and by the age of 14 I was the youngest person who had their own plot at the local allotments not just growing fruit and veg but an arr
ay of flowers and plants that fascinated me at the time. I knew at this time that this was the career I would finally venture into so I worked hard and studied hard to put myself in the position I am in today. For the past 7 years I have been working for Canary Wharf Management working within the estate to maintain and reinstate tired looking areas, giving them a new lease of life, working with both hard materials and plants I have learnt to respect and encourage the combination as they can offer a great contrast, planting can be used to soften straight edges and can really blur the lines between home and garden living spaces. Spending time working with plants has given me a good chance to improve my knowledge and really get to appreciate planting combinations and the different architectural structures that some plants really offer us. Whilst working for canary wharf I have been studying a HND part time this has given me more information on the industry, studying subjects like hard and sort materials, garden design, plant science and landscape construction gives me a better appreciation of the work and skill involved within creating the perfect garden spaces for a host of different clients with specific needs. As of 2014 I have been working on setting up my own business taking on jobs like fencing, paving, planting and tree works throughout this time I have met and worked with a host of different people that are reliable and good craftsmen who have all offered to do work with me in the future. My contacts spread over a broad spectrum bringing services such as glasswork, metal work, tree work, electricians, carpenters, builders and nurserymen. Bombadils garden care is a name that has always stuck to me since reading the lord of the rings books. Thomas Bombadil is in my eyes as close as you can get to father nature, he is solely focused on the protection of his green space and goes about his work in a happy and joyous way. I have thought hard about why I chose this name and he is a character close to my heart and think if everyone took a leaf out of his book, working doesn't have to be boring but a happy place achieving magical things.
