’The Spherical Series’ - part 1 - This particular terrarium is one of my favourites, it is also one of the largest at 36cm tall. I prefer larger terrariums, they create such a huge impact. So… I have become slightly obsessed with moss. 🌿 Have you ever really stopped and taken the time to examine moss? It’s pretty mad. ⁣

Here are a few facts I love about moss -⁣

Mosses are non-vascular land plants along with liverworts, hornworts, that were the first land plants ever recorded 470 million years ago. ⁣

They have no roots or flowers.⁣
⁣
Collectively moss absorbs more co2 than all the trees in the world. ⁣
⁣
Moss has been used for bandages and nappies due to its antiseptic properties. ⁣
⁣
Moss is a great bioindicator for air pollution.⁣

There are 20,000 different types of moss worldwide. ⁣

I feel really privileged to be a member of Kew…I feel proud to be helping to support the research and protection of some of the world’s most rare and endangered species. It is such a beautiful place, A great escape from the chaos of town. The other week we spent the day loosing ourselves in the jungle, coming up with new terrarium ideas.⁣
