We have exciting opportunities for planners looking to join our award winning, interdisciplinary team of planners, urban designers and masterplanners. At Tibbalds, we put people at the heart of places. We want to shape healthier, more resilient places that put people first and we’re hiring a Senior or Associate level Town Planner to join our independent, employee-owned London based practice.

Tibbalds are an employee-owned practice based in Southwark, working on a rich range of projects for private and public sector clients. What sets us apart from other practices is our strong development planning function within a design-focused practice. We’re motivated by the delivery of high-quality design and place-making, for the benefit of the people who will use our projects. We believe that good placemaking is the product of good planning, policy, and design.

Part of our longstanding work on masterplanning and designing new towns and communities, Director Katja Stille spent the day at Northstowe in Cambridgeshire with AFP.

This pioneering new place is being developed as a green community, with health and wellbeing at its heart. Once complete, it will deliver ~10,000 new homes within a 540-ha area, 30 minutes from Cambridge city centre.

Tibbalds has been working as part of Homes England’s team for phases 2 and 3, masterplanning the new space, creating design codes and focussing on creating somewhere that will support residents now and evolve as the community continues to grow.

How do places get their name?

Public vote to name proposed new town in East Devon

The shortlisted names – Newton Clyst, Marlcombe, Willowcrest, and Clysthope - relate to the area’s history, geography, ecology and environment, and to previous feedback.

People can take part in the consultation and choosing the new communities name on the consultation website: https://newcommunitynameconsultation.commonplace.is/

The deadline for responses is Tuesday 26 August 2025.

Tibbalds celebrated EO day a few days late this year so that we could combine our celebrations with a staff lunch and our quarterly staff forum.

Kieran Easton, EOT Director said "Tibbalds is proud to be celebrating 12 years of employee ownership. Employee Ownership Day is a chance for us to reflect on how employees make Tibbalds the place that it is. It provides an opportunity for everyone to have meaningful input into the operation of the business, through office teams, and our quarterly staff forum. The full draft of the & is now out for ! This area based design code has been developed with a wide range of stakeholders to improve the quality of new development and to help it relate well to the distinctive local and largely rural character across both districts.
